Adding more ballest to 06 v215

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has increased the ballast on v215 currently I believe it is 1000...thaks

Ask Richard how much he run's. I'm sure it's well over 1000. I run up to 2K in my little V210

900 in hard weight and the rest is water ballast.

We run a little over 1300lbs in lead + the triple ballast.

V215 will require a good 2000lbs or more. It will depend on how big you want/need the wake to be.

I usually run about 1800 pounds TOTAL (incl factory ballast) and the wake is pretty sweet. i have about 1000 pounds of lead concealed around the boat so its nice not to have a bunch of sacks laying around, these boats definetly like weight up front! you can run quite a bit more weight than that, ive had around 2500 and the wake gets REAL big

...and so does the fuel bill...

The more hrs I put on mine the better the economy becomes, I towed 10 sets last saturday and used 20 gallons. Yes it was slammed, 2000 pounds + 5 riders. My malibu mates were staggered.

No no, the 210 is still the lake tractor of choice, pushing 500hrs now. I have just bought a 85 SN2001 as a salt water toy but it will be a couple of months until it arrives here and gets pimped.

I take long sets but never fall, ha ha.

What ballast bags is everyone using on the v-210?

I did upgrade the ballast in the V215. I put Extreme Pro X 400lb sacs in the rear in place of the stock hard tanks. I also ran 640 in lead in the nose with an additional 500 mid ship. That put me at around 2200-2300lb in weight plus crew. It did take a minute to get up but nothing unbearable.

Rob, right now I run mine on the light side ballast wise, but can always add more later. Currently I am running a 275 in each rear locker, the stock 350 up front under the floor and 250 in lead under the front bow cushions. Looks like this @ 23.5

That is great hey Im pretty new to the sport and I noticed your speed what do you recomend I would really like to learn how to jump wake to wake ,right now it is stock ballast which should be fine for now......Thanks

How much do you weigh and how tall and what board do you ride?

It really depends on some other info too, but with your size and that board you can probably start around 21 and go up from there. Line length and how the boat is weighted come into play with speed as well. Behind a 215 with stock ballast I would start you out at 60 ft of line and work on fundamentals until you are clearing the second wake heelside and toeside. I would have you work on nice short cuts with lots of line tension, cutting all the way through the wake, and locking your knees at the right time, and keeping the handle in and down in the air. Purchase any of the instructionals out there and watch it over and over would help as well.

Sparky thanks for the advice right now Im using 75 ft rope i believe so you suggest 60,as you get better do you add more rope? I assume the shorter rope is for better control when learning.Also when starting out should I always have the ballast full? Thanks for all your help

Hey you're close enough, we might have to take this discussion to the water!Yeah I would run full ballast on your boat. The reason I like the shorter line in the begining is so you have an easier time clearing the second wake instead of casing the top of it which is where people get hurt. Once you're landing out in the flats consistently with good technique, both HS and TS then add line.
