When buying a new boat, how much can you expect to get off MSRP? I've been quoted 10%. I was hoping for a little more for a boat +$50K.

10% is pretty standard to expect. It really depends on the dealers volume. Once you near 15% your getting a sweet deal

I want to get the new VLX, so being 1) West Coast 2) Malibu and 3) new model - I was hoping for about 15%. Does anyone know how much they work off their initial offer?

Greg--Call Anthony at Larson Marine, Rancho Cordova, CA. I ordered, and took delivery about two weeks later, on an 05 Pro-V in early Sept 04. At the time, I was quoted about 53k by 2 other dealers for the same options, plus tx/reg/deliv/prep. I paid 41500k/tax/registration only, and didn't have to play "cat and mouse". He also sells Nautiques...

It was 37,5 with a tandem axle extreme trailer. It came with Tower, racks, wedge, ballast, pop up cleats, LCR motor, booster seat all the basic stuff that they all come with. I added PP $1200, Heater $600,depth/water temp/air temp gauge $250, binimi $600, surf board $400 for a total of 40,300 out the door. You can add that stuff to the original MSRP to bump it to say 53k and 40,300. I'm not sure what the % off on that is. I also got a 5.25 interest rate This was the last VLX they had.

Malibu you can definitely get 15% below... You can get closer to 20%. They inflate their MSRP's a ton... Just my experience since I was just looking at them...

Diggs, Where did you find 20% off in Oregon? What do you mean they inflate their MSRP, It's posted on the Malibu website. Who are you claiming inflates the MSRP, dealer or factory?

It depends on region, 15% on a bu is a good deal if you are dealing with straight msrp, but some dealers inflate it a ton so it looks like you are getting a better deal when you are really getting the same. I have seen vlxs online with a retail in the upper $70's and mine with more options had a retail in the 60's which i know was accurate bc my dealer gave me a copy of their retail price sheets so I could look at the options, add up what i wanted and decide on between the vRide and vlx. I got more off than 15%, but I have bought multiple boats, have no trade, and am in the northeast where it seems dealers have to give better deals due to the limited season.

Quotes out of Oregon and Cali were both around 20%... when I was done with them. They all started around 15%. WHen I say inflate there MSRP I mean the manufacturer shows their MSRP real high. Like the VLX I was looking at with options was in the mid 60's. They add the trailer and other BS that everyone else includes that in boat price. And they were certainly more than 20% off that when I was done. Even at that, is it an 8K better boat than a Supra? It is a sweet boat, but couldn't justify that much.

Here is what the dealers where quoting me. All the boats where very similar in options. Tige was more he wouldn't give me a true price so I left. After the fact a freind went in and told him what I got and he said it was a smokin deal and he couldn't come close in the 21v X2 44k, I think I could of got them to about 42K if I would of waited. They where playing to many games. Supra SSV 43,5 to 44k VLX 40,3k The Malibu was ready to wheel and deal and get rid of some stock. The where also the only dealer that didn't hassle me and play games. They called me and said this is what we can do.
