I was wondering if I added a hydrofoil to my io if that would help shape the wake at all, help maintain speed, work against my trim, or any other side affects one might have.

i put one on my io and it works great, helps with plaining and helps keep a constant speed doesnt really affect the wake or trim

I put a stingray foil on my volvo-planes out @ 10mph. real nice when pulling kids. the only downside is top end speed-it drops just a little.

I have a stainless Cobra Edge Pro. More expensive (@ $95) than the plastic or aluminum types, but It Works.

Mark,
Did you ever get PP? Are you still looking for a Sanger?

mark! do it I have one my boat and it works great...
helps plane out quicker maintain lower speeds and you can raise the trim alot more to shape your wake... I still need to get you picks of my perfect pass....
I am not real happy with the speed mode but the rpm mode is great, The speedo didnt work at first so i think i just got used to using rpm, and I need to play with the settings more... just need to find a patient rider!

Yo Gary,
I got my PP installed and love it, I've been looking at all kinds of boats and deals. I started looking at Sangers and they are tied up at the top of my list. Wife says they ride too low in the water for her though. Should you be moving back out this direction, whatever boat I have, I'll be glad to get your gills wet.
Hey Gordon....I haven't tried the rpm mode yet. I'm riding @ 22 and it holds that pretty good unless you trim too much. Thats why I'm looking into the hydrofoil.

Paul, how much did it affect your top end? Right now I top out @ 52mph. Normally cruise around @ 35 - 40.

mark-I normally run an 18 4blade alum prop and top end ,glass conditions w/2 people is around 48. If I change to my 19 3blade I can cruise around 50-53. I lost about 4-6mph is all, but I gained bottom end. I have a 500# sack on the rear floor and trimmed properly it puts out a nice steep wake. Sure beats a row boat!!!!!

Alrighty then.....just went to e-bay and got one!! Should be here for next weeks adventures. I'm running a SS 21p 3 blade. I do have a Aluminum 19p 3 blade on hand though. I'll be putting that on next if I don't get what I'm looking for from the hydrofoil. I just need a little improvement holding my speed while trimmed. PP is perfect b4 I trim up and the wake has just a little wash in it @ 22mph.
