Guys I am at work and my boat is in its storage spot with my handle so its not available today for me to look at, but I was thinking....

In combination with the new rope (65 feet is the shortest option), the 5 foot handle makes the shortest length 70ft to the rider. I need something shorter for the wife and newbies. Has anyone successfuly shortened the actual LGS handle somehow to make it more of a direct connect? Is it all knotted up, or is it possible that its connected just like an extension?

If anyone has any knowledge on the best way to do this, please let me know. It could be super simple, but I just dont have it in front of me.

There is a GREAT way to make a temporary loop in your rope, that is super easy to use. I wouldn't change your handle.

Lets see if i can find it. Can't right now, hopefully someone else can post up good directions.

My try at it would be this.

Use your right hand, palm sideways.

Hook random point in rope over your thumb.

Wrap the 2 parts of rope aroudn the back of your hand, and back over the top of your palm by your thumb.

Make a fist. Pull rope off of "front and back" of your fist to make one loop.

Put over pylon. This will NOT losen up on the water, but once removed from teh pylon, leaves no lasting loop.

WORKS Awesome, wish i could show you in person.

Good luck!

Charles, I teach probably a dozen guys how to shorten a line each year. I plan to do an article about it and will soon. Hopefully you can understend this explanation:

Bend the rope back on itself, where you want to shorten it, to make a loop. Take that loop and wrap it all the way around the outside of the pylon. Make the loop go under the line and then up and over the pylon. Tighten and you're done. You can shorten the line at any position this way with no knots. It's so easy, that it's hard to explain in words.

Pretty sure we are all talking about the same thing.

I learned from a great online text explanation a while ago, hoping that gets posted back up.
