Hey guys, I just recieved my acme 3 blade, prop 649. It's more aggresive then the 543 which almost everyone gets. I am now wondering if I made a mistake and should exchange it for the 543. The only difference is the pitch. I usualy have 1500lbs of ballast and 4 people with me but every once in a while I cruise also. What do you guys think? Is it worth the hassle sending back?

Call the guys at ACME. They're very helpful and knowledgeable.

I think you will be fine. If you want to barefoot, you are screwed. If you want to wakeboard and cruise, you will be fine. That prop is great for the 260-310 hp motor that is struggling to get up to speed. The reduced cup reduces the hp to turn it.

By the way, I sell that prop for $310 shipped.

Nate,

I don't know whic engine you have, but I have the specs on the 97-98s in my stuff.

The 5.7 260 HP 4400-4600
The 350 Mag MPI 4600-5000
The Black Scorpion 4800-5200

Karl, what would you suggest as an all-around replacement for an unweighted 98 Sanger DLX with the 350 MPI 315 HP? We cruise and board. When we need weight, we just load more people...

The boat came with the OJ 13x13 3-blade, and I want to make it the spare and get an ACME.

And Karl, when I do buy it later this summer, it will be from you.

An Acme 515 should be your prop, providing a 1.125" shaft.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Army Dad, I went from a 13x13 4 blade OJ on my Cal-Air with the same engine as in your Sanger (350 Merc, 315hp) to a 13x11.5 3 blade Acme (#525) and love it.

I run close to 1500lbs blast in my boat most times, hence the 13x11.5 Acme. I think that you'll be very happy with the 13x12 3 blade on your Sanger. It will make that OJ feel like a dog.

Thanks, Sean. I appreciate the input. Acme 515 is what I will go for.
