i also know more than a couple people who purchased 300 dollar plus plane tickets to go there only to have it cancelled the day before the event. Many emails to the city werent even replied to....

As much as I love the bay area as I used to live there, eff em, most in the snow community have lost interest and trust in what should have been about the coolest event ever to be put on.

My .02, take some video!

It was the damn SF snobs. Leave to the San Franciscans to protest a kick-ass time. Who wouldn't want to watch that from the front porch of their 1.5 million dollar, 500 square foot apartment?

saw some at www.newschoolers.com

saw a live feed of it too, and the camera guy was more focused on mosely and kept missing the shots of skiers, and their landings.

this was the best........

a media quote from simon dumont "Im just going to throw a messdy, maybe a quarter five, nothing too hard."

The real quote......

"Im just going to throw a misty, maybe a cork five, nothing too hard"

sf, your killin me.

btw, im sure companies like msp and such got great footage, i was referring to the knobs in the local media.

Hey so for the guys that went: how was it really?

Every clip I've seen has showed the riders casing the landing, and not going very big at all. Did they not have a steep enough runway to build speed?
Old     (dcervenka)      Join Date: Sep 2002       09-30-2005, 9:32 AM Reply
The weather was perfect (a little hot on the snow with the reflection) and the streets were packed.. not bad for a mid-day Thursday event.

Only during the practice run were the guys casing the landing and then maybe a few times through-out the contest. For the most part a lot of guys were doing just fine! The approach to the jump was steep enough, but because of the warm weather it made for spring-like conditions so if the rider wasn't in a speedball tuck he wasn't going to make it. I’ve got video of one guy who didn’t look like he was a part contest hitting the jump and then landing only halfway… right onto the Styrofoam boxes…lets just say it wasn’t pretty!

FREE dpcFilms sticker for the first person to find me in Scott’s second pic (“Where's Jonny Moseley?"). Hint.. I’m wearing a red t-shirt… lol

Mad props to Scott A for his awesome pics and enduring the whole day with me on the slopes of SF! It was fun, but by the time the day was over it felt like we ran a 30k race.. 6 hours straight coverage with no breaks!

I think you might be the guy holding the video camera.

Don't worry about the sticker. I still have a stack!

Scotty, that first pic is absolutely sick. That instantly went up as my wallpaper. Nice work guys. Can't wait to see some video.

...and here I thought that all of the winch-to-kiddie pool-to-lameass rail pics screamed contrived.

The bar has been raised by this event.

what do you expect from a winter sport that is set in a city that never gets snow? oh, and it was >80 degrees.

'twas fun. lots of work, but fun nonetheless.
