I'm going to look at an '89 Sport Nautique tomorrow and wanted to know if it has the same hull as the early '90 Sports that are highly regarded. I only have about 10K to spend (the less the better) and thought this boat might be a good deal - it's a one owner with good hours. Any feedback would be appreicated.

I was also considering a Supra Sunsport or Malibu Sunsetter in mid to late 80s vintage.

That is a sweet boat - just a bit outside my price range!

Brian,

I have a 98 Nautique Super Sport (V-drive). I've only had it a short while, but the craftmanship is very good and the wake is great (Add a ballast system) I was told the SS has the same hull as the later models Super Air and that it is actually the same hull from the much earlier sport models. If it is, I'd recommend it. Check with your local Correct Craft dealer. If you get a loon for a salesman, Chris Loomis at California Correct Craft is pretty knowledgable. (909)784-5454

I'm pretty sure the hull was the same all through the '80's, and changed in '90. '89 was the last year of the 2001, that's why I think that. Not 100% sure, though.

I know the Regular N hull followed this hull schedule. I'm not sure about the Sport N hull - I don't know if it followed the same changes or not.

The 90-96 hull is the same
The 97-01 is a different hull
and 2002+ is the newest hull

To go back even farther than BrianS,

The 83-89 hull is the same.

I owned a 1988 Nautique 2001 and I would recommend that boat to anyone. For around $10,000 or so, you can't find a better boat for wakeboarding. The only drawback is the lack of storage.

Brian, I am not positive, but I don't think Nautique made an '89 Sport Nautique. In '89 they made the Nautique 2001.

The Sport didnt change hulls the same years the Ski Nautique did. I believe the original hull went from 89-92 before it was changed for the 1993 model year. This boat was the one with the integrated fiberglass platform. Ive never skied behind one, however, so I cant speak for the wake.
