I just finished installing 4 polk db651 speakers. I replaced the factory deck with a kenwood kmr-440u. When I crank the volume the deck turns off and then back on. Do the speakers take too much power and I need an amp?

Sounds like one of the speakers might be shorting out.

I assume you have each speaker wired to its own channel of the headunit, right?

Disconnect all of the speakers and test them one at a time.

If it happens only on one of the speakers, you've found your problem.

If you wired at 2-ohms (paralleled speakers off a single channel) or you mixed a positive from one channel with a negative from another channel or you have a bad ground or you have low voltage...all potential causes.
Double check your voltage at the HU, check the chassis ground and then hook up a single speaker only one speaker at a time and test. Something will become evident.
