Where's a Good Place to Refinance

All of you who have refinanced lately, what company did you use or would suggest considering. I'd like to find he best deal on closing costs and interest rates.

Where are you located?

I used USAA. The rates and fees were great with no surprises. However, I have to admit that the service I received at the time was less than stellar. Granted, everyone and their mother was refinancing last year and every lender was super busy. The processor assigned to my file was buried with too many loans and as a result her service suffered.

Example, I was told at the last minute that my original survey could not be used since it was more than 8 years old. I shelled out $350 for a new survey only to find at the closing table that they were using the original. I later found out that the 8 year rule was BS anyway as there had been no improvement/changes to the property.

Aside from that I went with USAA because I knew that there wouldn't be any shady surprises along the way that some brokers who over promise and under deliver often dump on you at closing.

That's a tough question. I do loans for people all over the country but there is something to be said for working local. You may find that a loan officer is much more focused when he knows that a client can drop in and see him face to face. That said, if you would like a quote or even just to talk about options I would be glad to go over your situation with you...............
