where should i drill the holes in my titan tower to route the speaker wires? should I drill below the weld on the cone or above on the 2.25" pipe, and if so how far up so I dont weaken anything?

I don't know the titan towers that well but the cone at the bottom is usually solid so drilling won't work if you try. Pick any where on the tube that is convient and the hole your making is only like 1/2" right? so don't worry about weakening the tower it wont happen. When i drilled mine yesterday i had to take the tower off to get the hole where i wanted... what a pain in the ass for 1 little hole.

The cone is solid and you must drill above the weld. I went about 4 inches up but as long as you are above the weld you will be good.

The cone insterts into the pipe for positioning before the welding is done. Call titan to find out how far up.

In a perfect world you want the bottom of the hole you drill to be at the top of the solid section of the cone so water can drain out. If you go up to high, you will have a water puddle and if your boat is stored where it freezes it could crack the tube. If you drill it to low you are going into solid stainless and will need lots of drill bits.

Todd,

Give Titan a call or e-mail. Their techsupport has a couple of documents that show the process step by step (also includes the location of where the cone stops as Bill indicated).
They give great support. I have talked to Obie a few times and he is always helpful.
