I am considering buying a wakeskate, 6'1, 195 lbs. Does anyone here wakeskate? It looks like a great sport, want to make sure I get the correct size board.

Any info for a newbie at this sport please let me know. I ride a 142 wakeboard, but the wakeskates are sized different. Possibly a 45 might be a decent size me? can you ride barefoot or do you need special shoes?

there is no size chart for wakeskating, but do not get anything over 42. most wakeskaters ride decks between 39-41. each year the standard size is getting smaller. i ride a 38 and could not imagine riding a 40 again

im about the same size and weight at you travis, and ive ridden mitchs board (38 inches) and its the most comfortable size ive ever ridden on. ive ridden 38, 40, 41 and 42 inch skates. and 38 was my favorite by far, mitch's board is also the dopest board ever made though, so that might be part of it

I just realized they have a "wakeskating" forum, I will post some more q's over there. Thanks for the input.

If you get a skate with grip tape your going to want to wear shoes. If it has the foam top you can get away barefoot. You don't need special shoes, any will work but Reef does make some Byerly wakeskate shoes which allow the water to drain better than regular shoes.
