Need some help. My 2003 Tige 22I is having a problem. When pulling a boarder out of the hole I am getting a "best described as" a cavitation type sensation. Like the prop is cavitating then it kicks in and stops.

Never had this happen before. I assume it has something to do with the transmission. Any ideas and if so how much am I looing at to have it fixed.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Check your fluids.

low fluid will cause slipping in the tranny. cavitation could also be it if you're very heavy in the rear weight-wise.

Actually it's been happening with no weight added. But the larger the boarder the worse the case.

Usually run about 1500 pounds.

I bet it's the fluid. Where do I look to check the fluid? Yes, I am pretty good on cars but boats is a different story. Usually head to the dealership for that type of service. But if it's as simple as low fluid I would rather do it myself.

Thanks again to all of you!

there should be an obvious dipstick on top of the tranny (not the V-drive, but check that too). fluid level should be checked with the boat floating in the water for the correct level. find out why it is losing fluid and fix that too. if there's no fluid in the bilge, it's most likely the tranny cooler in the raw water line.
