So I have a LF Team 139. Joe was adement that I should try his board. So I did. Holy Criminey!!!

Excellent pop, soft landings, and much loser than I thought it would be. I was very impressed.

.. Damn, now I need to buy a new board.

haha, ya I rode his waston today and thought I was going to get a lease on it and he saw what the board could do and took it back.

Joe, yep never seen you on anything under a 140. Bigger board = more hip hop pippty POP and feather soft landings.

I'm with you mike, it didn't do it for me either. I tried and tried for 4 weeks solid but it was not to be. The Watson rules tho.

I love my Marius/with no fins. (140).
The Marius is so wide, when i ride another board it feels like i am on a pop sickle stick.

Hillbilly... you buddy didn't like the Marius I sold him or what?

Old     (thane_dogg)      Join Date: Jun 2002       09-24-2006, 3:38 PM Reply
the pop took me a little while to figure out, but I'm hooked now.
Old     (wakeslife)      Join Date: Jul 2005       09-24-2006, 3:47 PM Reply
I thought it was the 3 stage rocker board that deliver the huge pop... the Marius is a continuous board right? whats the deal?
Old     (twakess)      Join Date: Mar 2002       09-24-2006, 4:19 PM Reply
Thane I got the pop fast. One thing I noticed is that is dosn't like a short hard edge it likes a longer smooth edge so I was just going out further.

UpNorth X1. Its do to the surface area where the pop is coming from. I have ridden few boards in my time of all the boards this one has by far the most straight up pop I have ever felt. The guys in the boat said that it was the most pop they have seen me get. Also they said I was doing my airs and spins tower height. Looks like I need to take this board to the bank with platinum style. Damn J-rod you should of forced me to ride the 140 along time ago.

Paul, yep thats where I am headed but need to get the hall pass from moma to get it.
Old     (bill)      Join Date: Feb 2001       09-24-2006, 6:24 PM Reply
so how is the speed of the marius for 07??they were kind of slow last year ,did that improve and is the Platty even faster then the standard foam??

BTW to know what i mean by slow i feel the Watson is on the faster side for a three stage and my Abs platty 140 is in the middle..
Old     (twakess)      Join Date: Mar 2002       09-24-2006, 7:24 PM Reply
Bill, I don't think they changed anything except it will be offered in a Plat. As for the speed and it having the drag yes its still there. I think if you spend some time on it you will adjust to the drag.
Old     (hillbilly)      Join Date: Aug 2002       09-24-2006, 10:08 PM Reply
Attilla I think the 140 is a little big and slow for his liking. I am waiting for the 140 platinum. Then talking the wife into letting me spend more money to get it.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       09-24-2006, 10:13 PM Reply
chuck, i got the smaller fins from hahn...he hooked me up.

Jeff, I thought if ya placed at Nationals she would let you get one. Come down here for the weekends and I will help ya out with your run. I have a air mat or couch..

Joe, how do you like it with the smaller fins?
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       09-24-2006, 10:28 PM Reply
it sounds ridiculous, but it's like 2 different boards. i like it a lot more w/ the smaller fins.

when are you gonna start coaching me? you still owe me a pull!
Old     (twakess)      Join Date: Mar 2002       09-24-2006, 10:42 PM Reply
Joe, I would think it would be faster and have a little more pop due to a faster and less grab off the top of the wake. But I didn't want to say that due to people may think I am more crazy then they already do.

As for coaching you don't need it you have the fundamentals down you just put some trust in your self and let it happen. For the pull when your done with your Chick Flick just holla. Good to know your back home in Nor Cal.

yeah, it's great to be back! even though i haven't ridden as much as i would like, i've definitely ridden and had more butter in the 3 months since moving up here than i had the rest of '06 in socal. don't get me wrong, socal was great (it's where i met frankie after all), and i made some great friends.

it really is hard to trust my skills when i don't ride as much. if i rode on a regular basis (2-3 times a week), then it would be easy to do so. but since i don't, i just ride, and don't try anything new, or even stuff i used to land. i goal still is to get my tricks back; tantrum, hs3, raley, batwing, etc. if or when i get them back, i want to learn a bunch of spins, on-axis and off-axis.

back to the marius, it's definitely a bit faster w/ the smaller fins. and even with my limited riding and skills, i think i go bigger now than when i had the stock fins.
Old     (billyjodonjimbo)      Join Date: Apr 2006       09-24-2006, 11:41 PM Reply
what kind of fins are you using for the smaller fins?

Does anybody ride this board finless?

When I tried it, it was not loose enough for my liking, but other than that I thought it was great. Rode it with the stock fins though.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       09-24-2006, 11:43 PM Reply
the fins i'm using are the .7 absolute fins. a lot of people ride it w/o the center fins (please don't call it finless...it still has fins even w/o the center fins).
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       09-25-2006, 9:59 AM Reply
When I ride the Marius, not regularly mind you, I ride it sans center din. Its got plenty of grip and I could not imagine wanting more. Try the board out, some love it. I liked it but definately prefer the buck of my Absolute.

Atilla, I love the Marius. Like I told you before, this is the second time I have owned that board. It has mad pop but I still want to try the smaller version. Actually I just picked one up off of ebay for $120 new. Now I'll have both sizes. I, much like squid, am a board collector and find myself switching back and forth a lot.

I ride my friend's Marius 140 without the center fins and its amazing, i tried with the center fins and its very different to much grip. I recomend riding it finless..this board is sick!!!

for those of you that have rode the platinum vs. regular marius, any difference other then weight? Is it worth the extra $$$?
Old     (wakeparent)      Join Date: Jan 2005       09-26-2006, 7:03 AM Reply
My son has rode the marius the last two season's,and say's the Platinum is so much lighter and is the best board he ever had.
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       09-26-2006, 4:59 PM Reply
The platinums just pop a lot harder. They are stiffer and thus recoil quicker from the wake release. This translates into a harder better pop. If you stay away from sliders I definately think the Platinum is worth the extra $.

07 went with a 0.5" center fin, 06 was a 1.0".
