at Buy.com, search for item #CNE22v

new customers can get a $15 coupon to use with a $200 order http://www.techbargains.com/cjump.cfm?id=275

The same card on Amazon is $329 and even on eBay it's $249!

And Amazon has the Canon Digital Rebel kit w/ 18-55 lens on sale for $899.

You're on it Bill with that deal! I actually just ordered one myself yesterday and that was the best deal I could find. That card tested out as one of the fastest on Galbraith's CF card review for the 1D (to the tune of almost 3 times as fast as my el cheapo Transcend cards). The other smokin deal is the 4 gig Hitachi Microdrives on Ebay for around $250. If you can live with the slower write times that's the cheapest cost per gig wise. The 1D is limited to 2 gig cards otherwise I'd probably have gone that route. I went through 2 512's and a 1 gig in one 30 minute session last weekend so more (and bigger) cards are definitely on the wishlist. The 2 gig CF cards are still too expensive, I'm hoping the microdrive prices will force their cost down. BTW the $15 coupon evidently doesn't work because the card lists for $199.95. There is supposedly a $10 coupon floating around though that does. (missed out on that myself though!)

I added a cheap pair of headphones for $6.95 and the coupon was then valid. I wanted the new headphones anyway and it was such a good deal that I couldn't pass it up. I probably could have bought several cards and sold them on eBay for a profit!

Wow thanks for the heads up Bill. I have 2, 512 MB cards. But I am leaving on a week cruise and didn't want to bring my lap top. This will give me enough ammo to go crazy LOL Thanks again!

Rich,
Don't use microdrives. They're pieces of crap. Drop it in the boat once and it's toast. They're so fragile it's not worth the investment, 'cause before you know it your images are gone. Whereas I've known CF cards to go through the laundry in a photographer's pocket and not have anything wrong afterwards.
