tower subs

Has anyone even attempted to put subs on their tower? How does it sound?

Would probably sound lousy... A big part of a subs sound is the box its in... the bigger the better.. I've had no audio experience with subs on boats, but i'm an audio pro, and it sounds like its be more hassle than its worth.. You'd probably get more low end with it on the ground and allowing the floor to resonate as well...

Not really the case. Each sub has a unique "airspace" that it requires for best performance, whether it be enclosed or sealed.

There wouldnt be a reason to put a sub on the tower.

Another one...bass isn't directional, and can't be aimed. Subs up top are completely pointless, unless you like having excessive gunk weighing down your tower.

Isaac, do you mean to tell me a 8" sub with great "airspace" is going to be as good as a 15" with a large box.. Please! Besides,
I know its semantics, but why then at concerts do they not fly subs on the towers????
I know what your saying, but i was just speaking in general terms of a sub on a tower.. i've got a great sounding 10" @ home for the 5.1 setup because its box is designed great..

mike, I was just responding to your comment the bigger the better.. basically a 8" sub in a 2 foot of airspace will sound like crap. so it has to be in its correct airspace, so proper airspace is going to sound better vs the bigger the better. The same applies to any other size speaker that requires an enclosure.

An 8" sub in a box built to specs of its airspace will sound better than a 15" sub in a box that has way more airspace than the sub is spec'd for.

True.. And also dont forget throw.... You not gonna feel the throw of a sub on your tower.. The rider might but a small mountable sub would disperse....
bottom line its a bad idea... get a good full range set of speakers...
