I have an 2001 X-Star with the original Clarion Head unit. The head unit still works fine, however, I want buy a new unit for the IPOD aux jack. What radio can I buy that will work with the existing wired remote? Or, do I have to buy a different remote? Thanks All!

You could just use an equalizer.

This deck would be a good direct replacement.

I think because the remotes you have are so basic they will work with any clarion deck.
You could also replace the remotes with:

I would check with Clarion for compatibility before you do so.

Try this, no need for a new head unit.

Chad doesn't he still need aux in somewhere to make that work? That shows rca out of the unit so he still needs a place to plug it in on the deck.

Yeah go for the M475 in the above crutchfield link. Your remote will plug right in. There is a minor compatibility issue: The mute button on your remote will not work when in FM/AM mode. That's it, everything else will work just fine.

Chad I see where you are going. I believe he wants the use of the remote.

Thanks guys...I do want to use the existing remote. I love where Mastercraft put it and I can run the controls without taking my eye off the lake or the rider or the girl in the front of the boat.
Ryan, thanks for the info...I see the M475 has an additional wireless remote. I assume the wireless remote will not cause any conflicts with the wired remote.
Thanks Chad, I cannot get past the need to recharge the wireless unit every 15 hours.

No prob.. I just plug in the Ipod at night and its ready to go for another day. I have 4200 watts, 2 15's 6 6X9s in the boat and 4 6X9s on the tower. I do not run a head unit, I just run the Ipod setup. There is also a BT wireless remote that is the size of a walnut that mounts to the steering wheel so I can leave the Ipod in the glove compartment. I run 2 crazy batterys from SSVWORKs for the setup and a seperate isolated battery for the boat (aux and motor). Just works for me.. Upload
