Quick Question... I have 3 sets of Polk Momo's 6.5" in the cockpit. The 2 in the front are blown and the tweeters do not work... I'm kind of the nerd about everything matching and they don't make those speakers anymore. Does anybody know if the grill on a momo will fit on the DB series? or does anybody have a set of 6.5" momo's for sale?

Other option is replacing everything but I don't really want to spend the money right now. If I go this route I'm looking at either doing all DB's or the UM's. How much of a difference is there between the 2? Is it worth the money?

Thanks,
Aaron

I you already have the Momos in the boat going to the DB series is going to hugely disappoint. The UM series is the way to go in that choice. They are a very well rounded and have great all around sound. They also have a grille mounted tweeter so you get the full cone for midbass. There just really is no comparison in the DB vs MM. The DB is a great price point speaker, with some great sound while not breaking the bank. However it just can't come close to the MM. If you're gonna do it....do it right the first time. If you just had stock el cheapos then I would say the DB series would be nice upgrade, however because again u have the Momos already so it wil be huge downgrade.

right on, I kind of figured that... But since they are in the front of the boat and I'm behind the wheel it's not a huge concern... If the momo grill fits then it would at least look right and I'm out like $60... If I'm switching to UM's then I want to do the whole boat and that's like $150 per set...

I switched from the DB to the MM this year. Though the DB's sound good and are a great speaker for the money they aren't even close to the MM's.

I know this probably isn't what you were thinking but I have a Toyota Sequoia that the front JBL speakers were blown. Apparently this is a known issue with those speakers when I looked into it. Anyway, I happened to run across http://www.simplyspeakers.com while researching it. They had a repair kit that I picked up for $40. I figured it was only $40 if it turned out to be crap.
Well, the speakers sound like brand new!
It's probably worth looking into...

Well if your interested I have 2 used DB series speakers sitting around. There are 2 seasons old in our pontoon and another on the self in the box. If u want to pay shipping they are yours. I think the Momos had a 1 inch tweeter vs the 3/4 of the DB. Let me know
