I was talking about small single engine planes that you buy for private use. A low volume, hand-assembled product similar to a luxury boat. F-22 or B-777 is kinda different, but I get your point. That said, the defect rate on new boats is still astronomical compared to any other similar product I can think of. It's pretty much 100% go back to the dealer after delivery to customer for new wakeboarding boats as far as I can tell.

And give me a break, nothing in these boats has changed significantly since the 60's outside of the engines and transmissions, which are actually the only reliable parts in them. Is the bilge pump, accessory switches, or gelcoat really any different? They've had way more than 6 years to work the bugs out of assembling boats with such simple parts.

Scott, I used to be, whoredout by CC(very good btw grasshopper). I like CC the boat, the company is what gets to me. Very hypocritical, long story. No worries I guess you could say I'm a loved hater. Dont mean much by it.
Like my teachers and parents use to say "their laughing at you not with you". I say f#=% 'em!
Peace.

Who’s got an x-star? I just ganked one fo' over 100k, an' it iz without uh doubt uh piece o' sheeit da wake iz phat, an' it uh filthy looking boat, but boat iz built da trash. we's gots run into numerous problems, da first one wuz whoever da sheeit wuz who assembled da prop hydraulic arm didn’t put uh nut on da other side o' da joint bolt so da rudder got stuck turned 90 degrees left an' made us run over da line, getting it tangled in da prop, then we' ta undo da line cuz we's couldn’t git it an' da rudder flipped around an' jet ding ding ding on da prop, fuq dat took 3 weeks ta git fixed, an' as we's wuz putting it back in da water, I noticed dat da 2 inside tower speakers weren’t working, an' da guy from da dealer tried ta blame me, but really, he forgot ta pug me in, DUMB ass fo' da third try, we's headed out, an' noticed da boat wuz sittings low, we's open up da rear storage, an' watt know, da bilge pump line cracked an' wuz shooting water into da starboard side storage, an' da engine wuz half way deep in water. dis here iz cuz some dip**** who assembled it, hooked up da wrong batter ta da bildge, there’s 2 batteries, an' yo' supposed ta turn one off when yo' done, da one dat turns off, wuz hooked ta da bilge, dat doesn’t werk do it. an' last but not least, just about uh half hour ago we's got all ready ta jet, an' BOTH batteries wuz dead, nahh juice what so ever, boat. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE X-STAR OR MC IN GENERAL?? Please let me know if it’s just us, or if its Mastercraft fuq all da boats up peep this

Young Master Colin has proved once again that you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Having said that, I have noticed a big improvement in his writing style and demeanor. It might be time for everybody to lighten up.

Welcome to the forum Colin. This is a good place to get info and tips about your new boat.

magic batteries... now I see why it's 100k.
OMGPWN3DBBQWTF!
Not hating. Ride on.

It could have been a stuck float switch on the bilge pumps if they're in auto? Hitting a bump or something on the trailer could have fixed the float switch. Filling a brand new hull 1/2 way on an outing could wash a lot of the cast trimmings or something into the float and jammed it with a closed circuit. Just a thought.

magic batteries make everything better Rod. See??

I still want to know why the boat was filled with water.

Magic Boat??
Old     (themxercr85)      Join Date: Jul 2007       07-19-2007, 3:44 PM Reply
the boat was filled because when they dropped the engine in they pinched a cooling line and the cooling line was dumping water into the engine bay, and the split bildge line was doing it also
Old     (flux)      Join Date: Jun 2003       07-19-2007, 3:50 PM Reply
Ah, I see. You need to give your dealer some hell for letting you out of there with a boat like that, could have wrecked the motor or worse, that could strand you or put you in jeopardy. They owe you one for sure and if they even squeek about it, call MC and raise hell, there is no excuse for any of it.

Luckily, all that stuff is fixable good as new.

Have fun boarding, that is a sick boat.
Old     (ncsuuh)      Join Date: Jan 2007       07-19-2007, 4:06 PM Reply
Your right FLUX. You should talk to your dealer that is total bul****. They should have known when they did the in the water test. I would definately call MC headquarters, I have a great dealer in Charlotte that gets everything done. You need to talk to headquarters. Sounds like you just got a weird boat. My family and I have owned a MC for the past 12 years, every problem we have ever had has been fixed no questions asked. It all comes down to your dealer personally.
Old     (themxercr85)      Join Date: Jul 2007       07-19-2007, 4:11 PM Reply
exactly, all theses other guys are givin me sht for complaining, that right there is a huge mistake, pinching the effin line, my dad made them drive down to our marina and fix it, its fixed now, but ya im suprised they didnt catch any of these on the test, i actually just talked to the head guy at one of the dealers and hes really nice and im gonna go out on the boat with him next week or something cause he feels bad

I think people gave Colin a hard time (myself included) because he went on a rant and nobody could understand what the heck he was saying.

It sounds like the dealer is trying to take care of it, and in the end your boat will be good as new. These things happen though, but all you really wanna do is use the boat you paid for!!

Have fun with it though, that is an amazing boat and I am sure that once they get the bugs out, it will be very reliable. Lot's of folks talk about new boats having a few problems initially, but then they run for years without a hitch, nothing but regular maintenance.

listen if the boat is acting up that bad, heres the deal, I'll trade you my boat, and you give me 20k cuz obviously your boat is a POS, my boat starts every time, battery never goes dead, tower speakers always work, auto bilge works, throws a sweet wake, has those classic lines and the rope never tangles in the prop, Im willing to trade you that for your problem POS, hows that sound?

Anyone wish that this idiots boat will stay bad, so that he doesn't pop up on your lake?? All the probs you thought were wrong, are easily solved. I simple answer to your problem...too much of daddies money, not enough brains. The sad thing is, I pretty sure your bag of tricks(if it is anything like your boat mechanic skills), is on line with an 1989 bayliner 16' with a 4 cylinder.

Colin, you should take Matt's advice. Also, try this little sing along...ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP....you get the idea.

Colin, I feel sorry for you and your generation. At 16 you should have a better grasp on how to work out your problems. Yes, some of the issues were with your dealer (not MC), but some of the issues were your own fault.
You get more with honey than vinegar. A better approach would have been...Mr. dealer, my dad and I have noticed a few problems with the boat. Give him your list of stuff thats wrong and ask him to please fix them.
I'm a new boater and I had a few problems with my boat (1/2 of which were due to my own stupidity) when I first bought it. I took the former approach and had my boat back within an hour of dropping it off. They threw in all kinds of free swag, advice, took me back out on the water to make sure I was doing things right....in summary a good experience. No one wants to have problems with such an expensive purchase, however, like everyone on here has echoed, it is a BOAT. I hope you realize that pissing out vinegar on this thread and at the dealer was NOT the way to go. It's interesting to me you never took the salesman up on his offer to help. Says something about your character as opposed to the people you were dealing with.
That is a sick boat. I got to ride behind one a few months ago. I hope you really appreciate the things you have in life. Have fun out there.

i hear u, we did go to the dealer, and they really slacked off, it took them 3 weeks to fix the first problem with the rudder, but no im all ears for help, were good now but before when brett yales from a dealer in sumner gave me his number i put it in my phone and asked my dad if i should give him a call, but by then the nice guy darren from another dealer was on it. and trust me, i apreciate everything i have, i know im lucky, but im not some spoiled little kid who doesnt know anything about anything, i ride mx and do all my own work on my bike, i have to work for things i get, everything i want i have to pay atleast half of, and work my butt off to get there, i dont sit on my azz all day and wait for stuff to be handed to me, i actually do lift a finger

Try lifting the finger that works the punctuation and sentence structure part of your brain.

The whole "IM text" speak thing is real cool and all with you hipster young folk, but believe me, somewhere along the line, in the very near future, it is going to work against you as you begin to deal with the real world.

Just a little advice, not a slam.

Colin, I have nothing personal against you, but your posts literally make me want to gouge my eyeballs out. You have managed to singlehandedly butcher just about EVERY single rule of proper grammar, syntax, capitalization, and punctuation. The above post contains one (1) lonely period. I'm dead serious, I'd be happy to give you constructive advice, only I can't stop weeping at the present state of a public education system which considers that passable English. For the love of god use Firefox which shows the errors right in the little reply box. I seriously need a drink.

Kids like him will not be running businesses in a few years. They will be emptying the wastebaskets of the people running the businesses.

Add weight and play with the speed.

Put your toybox and sister in the back corner of the boat and run 10.8 mph

Sounds good. A guy I was talking to the other day had an x-45 and said that he had both rear ballast filled and that did it, but i tried and it didnt work too well. How much weight in the rear lockers?

You guys are rediculous. This kid is 16 and acting WAY more mature than pretty much all of you. He had one post that crossed the line of being mature and being a young punk. He is being more than tolerant at this point with all you clowns constantly attacking him for his grammar. I might just start spelling like shizz too, just to make you all mad. I for one don't find it to be a big deal weather or not I spell everything correctly or put a comma in the right place when posting on WW. Many of you OLDER folks on here need to learn that because you're that age doesn't automatically make you mature... you still have to act like an adult. At this point in the thread Colin is showing that better than most of you.

Yeah, you go ahead and start spelling "like shizz" too, that'll teach us who the smart guy is, huh??

I get resumes every week from people who "don't find it to be a big deal weather(sic) or not" they spell everything correctly....let me know how that works out for 'ya after your days of being a parent sponsored rider end....

You know nothing about me meathead... Therefore don't even attempt to question my work ethic or education. If you do, it just shows what kind of person you are, which basically indicates one who can't deal with people very well.

meathead, dont you think you should know about a person before you try to insult them. im sure tyler is able to take good care of himself. besides, nobody will give any credibility to a stealth profile poster. whats your m.o. do you want to insult me now? do you want to insult my profession? you wont win this battle. i wont argue with anyone on a stupid computer. you can come to house if you want to insult me.

this thread is all in fun now to all you late comers. ITS ALL A JOKE now. colin has been talked to already and made his appoligies, its cool. lay off it.

and not that he needs it but plenty of people on ww will back tyler up, including me. so no offence to you meathead, i just dont like my boyz being hammered on.
