Pronunciation Question

I just picked up some brand new 04 Hyperlite Era bindings on eBay. I'm just curious about one thing... is "era" pronounced as the word, as in "end of an era", or is it an acronym for something, such as E.R.A.? Some places I see the stuff listed as "Hyperlite ERA" making me think acronym, other places it's Hyperlite Era, making me think it's a word. Somebody care to clear the air for me?

OK I've allways heard it pronounced Era, as in one word. and thats from the hype guys aswell. But say what you want, its a free world. lol.

And Marquardt. I believe its a silent D. not sure though.

Marquardt = Mar-kwart (I'm pretty sure this is how she told the announcer at the Carlsbad Slide Show to pronounce it when he asked the same question to her directly)

I am thinking ERA does stand for Eric Ruck, since that is his board. An eight year old told me Tige, means trash in French.

Sorry the 8 year old is wrong. Tige (pronounced Teeje in french) means like a Rod or Stem. Like when they put a metal bar in your leg when its shatters, the metal bar is called a Tige.

I was watching FuelTV the other day and "The 10 Best Wake Spots" came on. Melissa Marquardt was in the show and the host was hosting the show with Melissa on the boat driving while he was in the observer seat.

He said Melissa "mar-KET" directly to her. That's why I was questioning - I've heard people say like 5 different pronunciations and say "this is FOR SURE the way to say it."

Steve is correct.

Marquardt = Mar-kwart is how it is spoken in most parts of the world. Quite a common name in Germany and as Steve said, this is how you would say it.

Yeah, I wondered about that one too, especially when a movie I saw recently (maybe DS2?) had Mike Schweene as the name...thought it was maybe a 'here's how you really say his name' titling.

Tom and Steve are correct on the pronounciation of Marquardt. I used to have a co-worker with that last name and that is how he pronounced it.

I read an article about the owner of Tige. It is pronounced tie-guh and it comes from people calling him tiga or short for "tiger" as a nickname. Thats where the name of the company came from.
