In a recent West Marine ad I saw a tow line quick release for tubes. In big letters across the ad it said "a requirement in California". Is there such a law in California requiring a quick release for towables?
are you talkin about the trick ski release that attatches to the ski pylon or the little black plastic peice that is on the tube and the rope attatches too
No I think he is talking about a deal where the rider has a lanyard attached to their wrist...and when they fall off the tube the tube releases from the rope.
I think its a great idea if you tube. That way the tube is sitting out there near the downed rider...just a bit more saftey (visibility)
Yes, the device in the link to west marine is what I saw. The west marine printed ad I saw stated this was mandatory in California. I have never heard of such a requirement (not that I consistently look for tubing laws).
no control from the boat from teh looks of it...but you could get one of those trick skiing quick releases on the boat end too! Leave the kids float! LOL!
That looks like the dumbest thing I have ever seen. So lets say it malfunctions and you now have your wrist attached to this thing and you are dragged across the lake by your wrist or even worst it is broke or cut off.
It looks like it is attached to your wrist and it pulls a pin out when you fall that releases the tube from the rope. That sound like a painful helicopter ride to me. I sure won't attach that to me kids.
