I guessed Soven and LaRiche also, but I had my faith in Dallas making her come back. It's looking more like Butler is going to be the dominant female rider.

I had the same J-Rod. I really wanted to see Dallas give her Nicola a run at it, which she did with a 2nd but....no dice on the Prognostication. Nice job Andy.

butler with a 100? what did that run look like?

Scott, A 100 just means that Nicola had the highest score in every category and she was last off the dock. If she was 1st off the dock the exact same run might score a 60. The judges have to leave room above and below for someone to perform better than the 1st rider. If the last rider is best in every category and doesn't fall they will often recieve a 100. You see the same thing in pro-men's.

it does explain alot on how some of them men scores are lower than you would expect. Is it just me or does that way of scoring the contest take away lots of legitamacy??? They should wait till the end of the heat to score them cause like that you cant ride in the front of the heat and get love on the scoring.

Nick, I don't know that it takes away legitimacy. It certaintly creates confusion. My son scored several points lower on Saturday with a stand-up run that was much more difficult (2 extra mobes) and cleaner that his Friday qualifying run, yet he won both heats. You have to forget the score and only look at the placement in the heat. The scores are meaningless according to the judges.

Chris, I'm not saying Nicola didn't have a great run, she was clearly better than all the other riders.

One problem with the system is that a run that scores a 100 in one heat might only get 50 in another heat. You can never compare points from riders in different heats.

hmmm... thats actually good to know for sure. Never really thought about the scoring system like that, but thats a handy thing to know!! thanks for the post!

No,I never compare scores in heats.I am not arguing with what you are saying either. I heard Dallas went out 2nd to last and stood up. So Nicola must have ridden (ridden??) pretty well to win so comfortably. Rails probably helped.

You are exactly right Chris. I was just trying to clarify for those who haven't been around the scoring system. For the general public and people new to WWA events it is confusing. I have a friend with twins. Two years ago at nationals they were in different heats. One fell twice and only landed 6 total tricks. The other stood-up 2 passes, landed much harder tricks and scored 30 points less. He still doesn't understand how his brother got more points. A little sibling rivalry at work with a confusing scoring system.

Yeah, the scores are meaningless outside of the heat in which they took place. It's just a relative scoring system. I actually started removing the scores a while back because they caused more confusion that anything. Not sure why I stopped doing that! :-)

^^^^ I saw your post form the main board and thought for sure you were announcing the winner. Oh well, hopefully this didn't jinx my chances.

Picking these three was like picking the three favorites to win the trifecta at the track. All of them are on a roll.
