The Six Tower Rixen Cable System is in Action!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After finally getting the permanent power hooked up, the Rixen system was switched on, some adjustments made, and the first laps were ridden at WakeSport Ranch. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon, the weather was fantastic - sunshine and over 70 degrees. It was hard to believe the lake had been frozen with two inches of ice just the week before. A small crowd mysteriously appeared as Dustin Shows, the first rider got out his wet suit and equipment and prepared to be the first rider on the cable. The system was switched on, the motor began to hum ever so quietly, the cable began to move, and the rider was pulled onto the lake. After 14 months and two days, this was quite a milestone to see and experience. Two other riders then made laps around the lake.
The plans are to continue filling the lake - currently fed by two wells that are running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Any reasonable rain storm will raise the lake a foot or two at a time.
When the lake was being dug, it seemed quite large. Now that it is filling with water, it looks even bigger. The color an clarity of the water is a sight to behold. Once the lake is deep enough to ride safely, we will announce a Saturday or Sunday where riders can come out and ride for the afternoon - just to fully test the system. I expect this to be sometime in February, so bring your wetsuit.
I wish to thank everyone who has had a hand in getting this monster six tower cable lake operational.
I will keep you posted as to any further developments.
Best regards,
Jack V. Farr
We got some rain yesterday and last night and it put 2 to 3 feet of water in the lake.
It was nice to see water all the way around the lake this morning.
We have another storm coming on Wednesday, so that will help fill the lake even more.
We still have both wells pumping water into the lake 24/7 as well.
Here are a few pic's I took this morning.
Where are the train tracks? It looks like a rocky walk back to the dock.
They are up at the shop, obviously we have not installed the tracks yet.
We are working on getting the lake and obstacles finished, we would like to get it up and running first, before we start laying down the Track.
We have put all projects other then lake and obstacles on hold until we finish.
We have other ways to get riders back to the dock.
We want to ride!!
I hear you Bro...just giving you a hard time. Sounds like you guys are focused on the right things...RIDING! So when is opening weekend and will some of the obstacles be up when you guys open?
I heard Scoot already got to ride this thing!
Yes we will have 4 to 5 obstacles in the lake when we open and plan to build and install more as well.
I dont think Scoot has done any riding that I am aware of.
Dustin and Keith Holley rode as well as More from Germany that installed the Cable system.
We will open as soon as the lake is full and we have Obstacles in the lake, that could be as soon as a month.
We will have a grand Opening as well, date to be released soon.
Scoot - Alf gave me false info on you! I was wondering how you got the inside details on an early ride.
