well i havnt been out on the water with my parents all summer so this last sunday i went to the lake with them. did my boarding and showed them my new stuff. then i asked my dad if he wanted to try. he has tried befor but has yet to get up. well he got up on his third try this time and went for a good minute befor he fell. he even got all fancy n did a surface 180. i dont think he meant to do it but it still looked sik.. he is almost 48 and i think its pretty nuts that he did it.

Im so stoked that my dad rides. He doesnt ride for long, or get very fancy but he does it. Yesterday he was talking to me about getting a new setup and I got really excited. I didnt think he would get that serious about wakeboarding. I got even more excited when he mentioned getting a Wakesetter when we move. I count 4 people ive gotten into wakeboarding so far that absolutely love it. Im still trying to work on my mom, but she is still holding out.

My whole family wakeboards, all 4 of us. My mom and dad are getting fancy with their edging skillz! My little sister is getting there too. I'm working on wake to wakes.

I am 50 and my wife is 49, and we have been Wakeboarding 10 years. Having said that, after a weekend of boarding it takes us a few days for the soreness to subside.

im soo stoked to see all you riding. it shows that the sport just isnt for the young guys but the whole family. its cool to see a whole family doing the amazing sport together. ya mike o i will def try to push my dad to get him hooked so maybe he will buy a wakeboat too. my rents just have a bayliner with a pylon on it. not the best wake but it can be dec at times. kinda differnt to ride behind that then my buddies centurion but it will do at times cuz im all about having fun.

I'm 44 and the dad in the boat. I ride more then my 11 year old or his friends. I keep telling him that if I had his body and the 210 to ride behind anytime, I would be going pro. He does not seem to realize that most of the 'older' folks out there would prefer to have another cocktail and watch from the dock. Keep it up all you Dads and Moms and show the kids how it's done.

Dad is superpumped at the pic of him getting air last night. Trying wake to wake next time. Best part is, the first time every year (he prob rides 3-4 times a year) is always, "What foot forward am I?" So I switch him up every other year:-)

A-dub - that's hilarious...keep it up!!!

At 42 and my girls are 8 mos and 2 1/2 my goal is to stay in shape until they can ride, buy a boat again and get right back in the saddle!!! Hope those w-w 180's are as easy then as they are now

......I am a dad 42 that rides....but wtf ...my kids don't! My boy is 9 girl 7. I am still hoping, I definitely want to see the day that we all ride together! abbie&grace...make sure you throw your kids in the water early and swim lessons....mine are just taking a real long time getting real comf. with the water...plus they aren't that aggressive . I am sure it will come soon.....I plan on buying a wakeboard boat this fall....and have already bought my son an o'brian vision with xs parks bindings....right now he enjoys looking at it...lol!

I'm 41 have two sons 14 and 11 and am landing backrolls, 3's and an assortment of 180s. I love this sport!

Thats awesome. Its nice that you can spend quality time like that with your dad.
My neighbors(husband and wife) are 72 yrs old and they each slalom ski around the entire lake twice everyday. They are in incredible shape.

Yes, I land my backrolls 95% of the time. No other inverts but lots of big grab tricks, ride switch very well. John Anderson is in his 50's, I've seen him land 4 inverts, awesome rider. There's another guy who is in his 40's that competes in the outlaw division at the Performance tournmants and places pretty darn good considering his age.

......Any tips for me craig........you sound like you ride like me except I cant do an invert. I would like to try a backroll but haven't been able to convince myself to do it. I ride very under control these days...and haven't been injured in4 or 5 years.....any advice on progressing in the back roll.......like for a 360 you slide it first...then some 180 one wake then two then blind. ...these all help with the progression. there is really no intermediary step for a backroll is there?

...if you got something Will I 'll take all the advice I can get.

42 here and still going. I suck at wakeboarding but have a great time doing it. I raz my boys (10 & 13) just enough to get them to push themselves, which they do willingly. The 13 y.o. loves to "beat Dad", and at this point I think he has me in most activities. I can still take the 10 year old, but my wife laughs at me all the time for it.

I'm still the guy up at 6 waking people up to get out on the water. I think my boys still think I'm cool enough to ride with only because they need me to drive the boat (by law). Whatever it takes works for me. I can't see giving up wakeboarding for a long long time.

Michael, any invert takes 100% commitment. The backroll is a slow progressive edge into the wake with the final 10' being aggresive, make sure you stand really tall and load the line, the more load and the taller you are off the peak of the wake, the easier it is. Keep the handle in close during the whole rotation. Good luck! Let me know if you try it and what the results are. I'm just happy that I'm still able to ride. Would really love to learn a raley but have several knee injuries from snow skiing and spinning barefooting.
