Cheap Camcorder Suggestions - Hi8?

Hey All,
I am looking for a cheap camcorder so I can record myself wakeboarding. I will most likely buy it off ebay. I don't know anything about camcorders. I see the Hi-8's all the time on eBay, will they work? Any suggestions?

how cheap are you talking? Personally, I would try and go to a DV format if at all possible. The cameras are generally much smaller.

Hi8 is an analog format. You'll need an analog capture card or an analog to DV convertor to digitize your footage in order to edit it. It's basically a dead format at this point which is why you're seeing so many units for sale. Better just sticking to miniDV.
