Actually, he was looking very healthy in Reno.

Maybe it is just the picture then. When I first saw the thumbnail in the gallery I was like "who is that guy" it just shooked me a little.

That board looks sweet...but I obviously have no idea how it rides. It likes like the 3DS but with a center spine. What kind of rocker line do we think it has?

You can call him soft when you can ride better than him, lol...

Oh please, I'm not ripping on Parks. I just thought it was funny. Good grief man get a grip.

Eubanks, I agree that set up Harf and Parks were riding looked sweet. Can't wait to see Ronix it on the shelf.

I heard that the camera adds 50 pounds.

Lance, did you see the "lol" after my comment. That means I'm just ribbing you a little. Sorry if you took it wrong...

The camera does add 50 lbs, and so does the absence of dreadlocks! He does look a little heavier, but he has been on his butt healing. He'll burn it off once he's in his normal groove, and grows the dreads back out.....looks funny without them.

Youth is an awesome thing, but it's also temporary. He just has that build and obviously enjoys himself at the dinner table. Until someone else throws the double half-cab he is the man.
I'm 6'4" and when I stood next to him at the Irvine event a couple of years ago he came up to my armpit.
He needs to stop hanging out at the 'pot center'

I don't think a single poster on this thread would have the balls to open their mouth (other than your jaw dropping from his free ride abilities ) if they went out for a set on the water with him.

He gives all of us "Chunky" boys someone to look up to.

I don't think no one is trying rip on Parks. Take me for example. 2 years ago I weighed 198lbs and I'm 5'-10". I didn't feel like I was big or anything until one of my buddies told me to look out. I saw a picture of me at that weight and was like dang. So today I weigh 170lbs and feel like I'm 20 years old again. No question Parks is one of the best out there, he just looks better at a lighter weight.
Old     (wiscxstar)      Join Date: Mar 2002       08-11-2006, 6:37 AM Reply
Lance calling some guy "soft" is a rip....I know you are trying hard to do damage control, but you were ripping on the guy. Clearly, 5'-10" pushing 200 lbs. could be considered soft, but I doubt Parks is even close to that.

Also the it is strange that you are so concerned with his weight(and how he looks at that weight)...wtf....When I saw that picture I was like nice...Parks is riding again, and that Ronix board looks tight..

You should happy for the guy, he shook of that infection, and is back rippin'...

I am pretty clueless so what happened to Parks that kept him off the water. And if anyone saw the "pool party" video on ESPN 360, as lame as the X-games made wakeboarding sound, if you look at Parks during his quick interview, I would say the guy looks in great shape and will be ripping in no time.
Old     (mjmurphy53711)      Join Date: Mar 2004       08-11-2006, 7:27 AM Reply
Did Parks only land the ten eighty once? Or, only on camera once?
Old     (uga33)      Join Date: Jul 2003       08-11-2006, 7:59 AM Reply
Nicolet, come on now. Calling Parks soft is not a rip. I actually thought the same thing Bendow thought which was "Parks likes beer". I know Parks has been out for a while nursing injuries. Again, like I said before maybe it just the picture that was taken. Hopefully, Parks is sitting back getting a kick out of this.

Everybody knows parks is good. but everybody knows to be at the best of your ability in an athletic sport you have to be fit. The more fit the better you are.

On a side note, am I the only one that noticed the white balance on those X Games pictures is way off?

So, if someone posted a pic of you with your shirt off and people where making comments on a DB like "that guy is soft"...or man that guy likes beer, you wouldn't take that as a negative comment or a rip? Sure. Maybe it was compliment on your ability to eat food or drink beer.

Anyway, I am sure that you didn't mean for it to be harsh, but all and all it was a negative comment...just give the guy a break he fought off a pretty serious illness, which even gave him a limp...he is back riding and seriously does not even look out of shape...

I wish I had that problem to be so popular(wakeboarding for a living, getting a free X Star every year, wondering which girl I would go off next time, traveling the world, getting my beer free, yeah I think I could deal with it.

Little guys have "littleman" complexes so they rip on bigger guys to make themselves feel better. Let the persons riding do the talking....... But I do wish I had a six pack and not a pony keg at my waist. But I can ride.....and so can Parks

He might be able to lose 15lbs. or so but he isn't so big that it will affect his riding. It's not like he is sporting man boobs or anything. Actually, it looks like he just got done eating lunch with a beer and he's letting it hang a little.

I saw Parks in Reno and he looked like he was in great shape, just saw him on weekly update for the interview for XGames and he looked great again and when I saw the picture of him with his board, all I could feel was happy that he was riding again after all of his surgeries.
Old     (innov8)      Join Date: May 2005       08-12-2006, 10:32 AM Reply
I hope he comes back and kicks a$$. Any rider that goes through all the injuries and surgeries that Parks has had and still comes back to ride is alright in my book. To me thats some serious dedication.

I'm with joe on this--I'm nearly certain he's only landed one 1080.

Anyway, just to say this, I'm psyched to see parks is riding again. I myself had a serious knee injury that included an acl avulsion (where you tear your acl out of your tibia), a meniscus that was torn in two places, a second surgery to remove three separate layers of scar tissue, and then THAT became infected. I also lost weight and I became pretty depressed after that. To come back and ride is a really good thing and I wish him the best of luck. Who really gives a damn if he's fat or not, so long as he's healthy, because I think he still has a lot to offer wakeboarding. HOLLA!

I wonder how you all would feel if there was a similar "flattering" picture of Emily Copeland or Amber Wing...I mean if they still ripped but were more than a hundred twenty pounds would you be as generous with them as you are with Parks? FWIW I think Parks could kick our butts on the water whatever condition he is in!

zack, I don't think parks' 1080 is on video. I'm pretty sure it was only captured as a black and white photo sequence.
