I need some guidance in finding some instruction. I had a great week last year at Mike Schwenne's camp, but he doesn't take adults except early and late sessions, neither of which work for me this year. Also, I had knee surgery this winter and just don't feel physically up to a full week anywhere. I'd like to get my boys, 16 and 12, (and myself) some good instruction for a couple of days midweek in late June. It could be in my boat or the instructor's. I'd be willing to go anywhere within 4 hours or so of Santa Rosa. There are so many choices out there. Anybody have personal experience or recommendations? Thanks

Josh Smith is out on the Delta. He gives day lessons.

Andrew Shaffer came up to Berryessa and gave us lessons. He was very reasonable and gave us lots of good instruction. The best part actually was the instruction he gave my girlfriend on how to drive the boat properly. That alone was worth the money.

Come to www.DeltaWakeboardCamp.com out on the Delta. We have two 07 Malibu VLX's and our instructers are Derek Conway, Shelby Kantar, & Kevin Bird, all top notch instructers.

Jesson Vedel is very good, but i don't know if he does week lessons. He is currently on the tour right now, so it would have to work around his schedule. He works out of California Skier and teaches at canyon lake.

Josh Smith would be my choice, if I had money.

I would recommend Delta Wakeboard Camp. They have a killer list of local riders with great reputation.

TommyC is also the ultimate host. He has his own houseboat and a spot on a private island as a hub. He also has sliders.

I second Andrew Shaffer in Sac. if you are looking for private instruction...he's a great guy.

Launch Wakeboarding School is also a good option. They run lessons daily at Folsom or will provide an instructor on your boat. Ryan is a really cool guy.

Thanks for all the comments. I've had my eye on the Delta camp for awhile, so I'll check out Tommy's availability. I love Josh Smith's riding but don't know how to hook up with him. If you have a contact let me know. I know I kind of ruled out Shasta with the 4 hour criteria, but looks like we might head up there. Any thoughts about the Shasta coaches? Thanks again, Les

i'd say www.DeltaWakeboardCamp.com as well. the coaches are some of the best out there. Derek is a national champ as well as Kevin in INT outlaw and Shelby recently got 3rd on the PWT this past weekend in pro womens and all are equally good at teaching as they are at riding. You also cant beat a malibu wake.
Its the place i go for instruction and have never been happier. The house boat is so much fun and a really good place to chill out or the sun and hot weather.

JC, I sent you an e mail as well. Looks like neither of us got it? Tommyc, I tried to e mail you also. Did you receive it? I have gotten a couple of other e mails generated by this post. Perhaps the best way is to look at my profile and e mail to me directly rather than use the link on this page. I don't know.

I'd say Alex is a great coach. He's helped our kids with some very insightful tips. Also, at DWC, Derek has a good eye and can give some really great coaching.
