List your goals for 2009.

I'm keeping it simple this year.
1) TS FS 360
2) Backroll
3) Ride at Nationals (OKC) and Worlds (Orlando)
4) Commit to a more aggressive, harder edge at the wake.

I wouldn't say the first two items are keeping it simple, Liz!

I'd be happy just to land that TS Backroll!

liz...I would agree with Kat!

I'm keeping it simple too:
1) BS 180
2) BS 180
3) BS 180
4) Backflip on the tramp without a harness
5) switch TS 180 W2W

I might be destined to be a spinner and not a flipper

I'm with Liz.

I want a 360 and an invert. And this year, I'm ready for it . . . all rehabbed and in shape! AWWW YEAH!!!

And I don't think that's asking too much. :-)

Niiiice, ladies! It's sweet to see everyone mixing it up - spins, riding switch, riding ts and bs spins. It's cool to see that everyone's not just thinking flip flip flip.
My #1 new goal for this season is to take my ts bs 180 to a 3 - which could be brutal - I just hope to be able to do it without too many trips to the chiropractor.
Right on ladies - and ride on!

wow i dont know what you guys are talking about, but what you are saying sounds pretty cool! i just started last year, but for this summer i am just going to try to get outside the wake again lol
Old     (wakekat15)      Join Date: Jul 2005       03-13-2009, 3:57 PM Reply
lol, Lindsey! We all have to start somewhere & going outside the wake is definitely a big step in the progression! You go, Girl!
Old     (rnopr8)      Join Date: Apr 2005       03-14-2009, 9:37 AM Reply
right...what Kat said. The first lesson I ever took with my coach was learning to get a little pop with a progressive edge and trying to get outside the wake toeside.

Keep up the good work and youi WILL progress!!!!

I will expect to see you with us Women's Masters at Wake Games in 3 years

My goals

1) HAVE AN INSANE AMOUNT OF FUN!!
2) Get my legs (well all of me) in shape to ride and stay injury free
3) All my 180's back & solid
4) Front hand grabs
5) HAVE AN INSANE AMOUNT OF FUN!!
6) Grab 180's
7) HAVE AN INSANE AMOUNT OF FUN!!!
8) Try an upside down flippy thingy otherwise known as a backroll :-)
9) Relax and remember it's not work it's fun... even when I smack my head on the water, lose earrings, peel my eyelids back, or inhale water.

Did I mention - HAVE AN INSANE AMOUNT OF FUN
Old     (rnopr8)      Join Date: Apr 2005       03-16-2009, 10:18 PM Reply
Wow...number 9 sounds like the MOST insane amount of fun of any of them!!!!

Wow...I haven't been out wakeboarding in a few months since I live in Minnesnowda. I am definitely still considered a beginnner, but...my 'amateur' goals would include:

*just being comfortable riding switch and doing 180's

*by the end of the summer i wanna be able to do a 360 and possibly a backroll.

Are those decent goals for a beginner or should I aim higher?

Holy Cow, Becca! That's a pretty aggressive list...especially if you are learning behind the boat in your profile pic! That's a TON of weight and that wake has to be huge! You are right to focus on riding switch 'cause I've been riding for years and still SUCK at it!

Good Luck & Keep us posted on your progression!
Old     (push_girl)      Join Date: Sep 2003       04-07-2009, 9:46 AM Reply
I'm not going to jinx myself by putting a bunch of goals down that I may or may not complete by the end of the season (yep, that's right SEASON, mid-west represent!). PROGRESSION. If progression means getting out on the water one more time ths year than last year, or landing a new trick then I'll be happy. I have learned my lesson with injuries, so I guess my true goal is to ride like it could be my last time on the water. NO REGRETS, NO DISAPPOINTMENT.
Old     (wakekat15)      Join Date: Jul 2005       04-07-2009, 10:53 AM Reply
THAT is a great description of what it's all about, Annie!! You Rock!

I've had my share of injuries with 3 ACLs & a broken foot (as well as less serious things), but I still live to ride! I had a good friend pass away in the boat immediately after finishing a set; he was just 35 years old & there's nothing he would have rather done just before passing than to "shred his face off" (his saying; not mine)!

Check out my wakeboard when I see you at Nationals for the Monarch butterfly decal that says "CJ SR" - stands for "CJ Still Rides" (with me)! And now for the eerie part....I have never been on a body of water in the last 5 years when I didn't see a Monarch butterfly! Regardless of the time of year or the geographic location...Yep, even on the Fox River!

We must all remember not to let frustration with progression (or lack thereof) interfere with the pure joy of riding!

Annie...that is perfect....I am so with you...and progression is also about setting goals. We may not meet them but pushing for the goal of progression, no matter what the progression, is all worth it. That is what is so fun about wakeboarding.

Last season I accomplished HS W2W 3 times. In doing so, I totally jacked the back of my knee up from too many times of casing the wake on failed attempts. It took months for it to heal. My goal for this year is simple. Ride and have a good time. I was so focused on going W2W that I forgot to have fun.

I'll do that for sure! I'm so stoked right now because I'm heading to Gravity Research Compound this weekend! If you've never seen that place check out their site! It should be awesome!

So, I landed a half cab! I was so excited! I have never been able to land a 180 riding regular so I have been riding switch every time I take a run. I went for a one eighty toeside (riding switch) and landed it!!! YAY.

How's everyone else's goals coming along?
Old     (lizrd)      Join Date: Jul 2002       05-27-2009, 5:52 AM Reply
Becca - Nice job on the half cab! That's a fun trick!

Here in IL our season just started. We went out for the first time on Sunday, May 24. Right now my goal is to not freeze random parts of my body. Memorial Day was a balmy 54 degrees with 20 mph winds - not fun but we went any way!
Old     (goldilocks)      Join Date: Mar 2008       05-27-2009, 10:08 AM Reply
thats a bummer that you had low temps and lots of wind. we've been boardin since the first week of April or so but have had only a few good days where it was warm and not windy. we cant seem to stay outta the water for very long so far this season...lol. gotta love wakeboardin'!
