Does anyone do their own service? What is entailed with the 100 hour dealer service? What type, brand and weight oil do you use in your boat?

Thanks!

We use Pennzsoil 15w40, change the cap/rotor, spark plugs, flush transmission, change trans filter, change impeller. I think that's about it.

I was thinking of moving to AMSOIL or so but the factory pennzoil hasn't shown any signs of "use" even after 100 hours.

No drop in oil level and fairly clean after a 80 hour season.

2.4 What type of oil should I use? Can I use synthetic oil?
Indmar recommends (and uses at our factory) Pennzoil Marine 15W40 Motor Oil. If Pennzoil 15W40 Marine Oil is not available in your area, we suggest using 20W40 or 20W50 oil meeting the API specification of SJ/CG4 or better.
Synthetic oil that meets our requirement of 15W40and API rating of SJ/CJ4 is acceptable to use after 100 hours or operation with the recommended (not synthetic) oil. The use of synthetic oil does not alter the requirement for oil changes at 50-hour intervals.
Older operator manuals, and other publications that are not regularly updated will not be revised to show this latest engine oil recommendation. Current operator manuals, and other service publications that receive regular updates will receive this revised recommendation the next time they are updated.

Same here, NAPA 1069 filter and Rotella 15W40 oil. Same oil for the trans too.

FYI, 100 hours between oil changes is a bit too long. I change mine every 50 hours (twice a year)

my family used to own truck stops and we sold Rotella and Dello 400 for semi's. That is what I use in my boat, Rotella. It was what was recommended by my dealer, Nautiques of Orlando.

Isn't the recommended oil different based on which engine you have? I am surprised that hasn't been asked yet.

Read it for what it's worth http://indmar.com/About/ContactIndma...Presentweb.pdf

From the manual: Indmar uses and recommends Pennzoil Marine 15W40 in all 5.7L, 6.0L and LS7 engines and Pennzoil Heavy Duty 40W in all 6.2L (383), 7.4L (454), 8.1L (496) and 8.2L (502) engines. This oil meets the API Service CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, and CF/SL. If engine is to be used in conditions below 20 F (-7 C), use Pennzoil 10W30 meet- ing the above API specifications.

Most importantly, the MCX uses different oil than the LY6 or 8.1. Can't believe that he got all those answers without knowing what engine he has.

Well for what's it's worth I talked with TJ @ Indmar yesterday about something else. I then asked about their oil recommendations, his answer? "It doesn't really matter what oil you use as long as it's a quality oil that meets or exceeds the API rating. So in other words weight is not as important as the API rating, so use what you want". That help any?
