Hello,
We are going to purchase a 2008 Mastercraft X-Star this fall. Does anyone know yet if there are any major design changes planned? I would hate to purchase a 2008 and find out the boat is being completly re-design for the 2009 model year.
Has anyone heard any rumours?
Thanks,
greg

2009 is still under wraps, not to many peeps will know what is in store that far out. 2008 will see some cool changes such as a new graphics option and some other standard issue upgrades.

New graphics and gauges for 08, I havent heard anything for 09. I wish they would add a bigger XStar 24'-25' to the fleet. I always ask Zane about new things but he's always very tight lipped about it.

I also think they should make a 24 ft X-Star. I think they should get rid of the X-45 and make it a 24' X-Star.

I was just talking to a few friends about this.

I think an X-star should be only ONE boat,not 2 or 3.

X-star is a great name and adding more x-stars is like Malibu's wakesetter.....nobody says,"I got a Wakesetter"they say I got a VLX or a LSV.
Wakesetter is a great name too but it's not used b/c it describes more then one boat.I would hate MC to ruin the X-star name that way since it would become irrelevant.

Just my .02

The X-Star is under the Mastercraft X-series along with the X-1, X-2, X-7, etc. See this link:

I actually just ordered an 08' X-Star and it is supposed to be here on the 18th of this month. I didn't here anything about new graphics though so I just got off the phone w/my salesman and he hadn't heard of them either. He is going to call the rep and find out, other than that I heard the same thing about there were some cosmetic changes, but nothing more. I will keep you informed about what all was changed when it gets here but if anyone has any pics of the new graphics I would love to see them.

If they made a bigger XStar wouldnt the original XStar be the ExStar?

Ed,
the post above yours is where the conversation started about appointing another XStar. Just reading your post, makes it sound like you thought there was more than one. NBD.

meaning more X-stars b/c there is ONLY ONE.A 205v hull until 2002 was an x-star.2003 it became X-2 and new X-star came out.see the difference.I can say I got a 2002 x-star or 2003 x-star and everybody knows what boat I'm talking about.

So I'm guessing you missed that post as well?

Hello eveyone,
Thanks for the information so far about possible changes to the Mastercraft X-Star. It's such a crap shoot. I would hate to buy the 2008 and then Mastercraft does a huge design change for 2009. I would think there are changes in store as the X-Star has been around for a few years. We are in no rush as we have a 2002 Centurion. Our boat has been great for us with no problems. It's just time for a Mastercraft as I appreciate the overall design and various details.

Just curious how you can get an 08 in June when MC does not produce the 09 line till after July 1st. Do you know something that we do not know
Old     (roughrivermike)      Join Date: Apr 2006       05-30-2007, 6:35 PM Reply
OK, I get a new Xstar every year and I talked to the Rep about what to expect for 08.

1. There arte new graphics. The graphiti is gone. The switch will still be available, but there will be a new one as well.

2. 08 will offer a 40 year aniversary edition. there will be less than 100 made.

3. gauges will be the same, only wit red backlights.

4. No plans at this time to change the hull design. They are selling more Xstars every year than they did the previous year. When that trend stops, they will change it.

5. I hope they only keep 1 Xstar and I'm sure that they will. would chevy make a larger corvette, or maybe porche will make 2 911's.

Chevy should make 3 tahoes, it would be so sweet. Then maybe they could make 6 malibus as well. In fact, they should just call every car they make the same name.
Old     (ncsuuh)      Join Date: Jan 2007       05-31-2007, 7:18 AM Reply
the x-45 is basically a x-star, the wake is awesome, especially for surf
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       05-31-2007, 7:39 AM Reply
"Chevy should make 3 tahoes"

They do have a Yukon and Yukon XL
They also have two sizes available in the Escalade.

There are at least 4 sizes available in the Wakesetter too. It seems like they could capitalize off that name XSTAR a little more if they offered more sizes.
Old     (woreout)      Join Date: Aug 2006       05-31-2007, 7:46 AM Reply
Maybe a 24' XLStar .
Matt, the X45 has a completely different hull than the XStar. The 45 does have an awesome wake though.
Old     (ldr)      Join Date: Nov 2002       05-31-2007, 8:41 AM Reply
If the X 45 has a great wake, then why is there a need for a 24' Xstar? Or is it that people just want a scaled up Xstar hull? My question would then be, how do you know that a scaled up Xstar hull would be better than the x45 hull?

I wanted to say XLStar Billy. Darn it! I guess I got to get up earlier.

How bout XXLStar for the third one. That would make everyone happy, even Ed. Right Ed?

why stop at XX When Triple X is much more porno like....."XXX-STAR" girl addition with a 14" *****

My guess is MC is not stupid enough to do that.X-star is a special boat and should describe only one boat.

XXX and they can get Ice Cube and Vin Diesel or what ever the dude's name is to promo it. And the guys that buy them get a fake gold and cubic zirconium grills and the girls get front end enhancements and rear end enhancements if you purchase the trailer with dubs. That sounds about right.

I should be in marketing.

J-Rod- Mastercraft has the X-45 and X-80. That isn't the point of this topic. We're talking name branding here.

I did hear there will be a supercharged 455hp 6.2L V8 in 08. Its supposed to get a lot better gas mileage than the current 6.0L and a a$$ load of more torque.

Damnit just when I couldn't be more impressed with my '07. I will say they get better every year (naturally i guess). My '07 is a much better boat than my '04 was. Now just when I was getting over the PWT edition this Anniversay boat comes along.

I like the idea of the supercharged model, and less gas. Never understood why that has not been offered yet? We pay enough for these boats.

If you like the graffiti you will like the new Graphic for the X2, X15 and the X30. Lets say it has a shooter mentality. Brandon you are right the gauges for the 2008 are nice still a couple of glitches but they are nice. Do you also know another Intern his name is Ricky?

I had heard from my dealer that it's red. How's it diferent from the regular X-Star. I am trying to decide to order the special edition or the regular one. I am picky about graphics so I am worried the special edition may have some gawdy graphics???

I think they should add more ballast and make it closer to 2000-2500lbs.

I cant believe there is already a picture of the 08 stuff, I am a dealer and I just put the first orders in for 2008. I will be getting them in mid july. As for changes in the hull I would not expect anything new until at least 2010, so buy your 07 now and keep it for three years and then get the next X-Star if they make changes.
