Well after 2+ years of debating and changing my mind, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 2006 MC X2. It's amazing how much more room this boat has in it then my 2002 XStar (X1). There is so much space in this boat, although the smaller rear storage is somewhat of a pain.

I've had this color scheme in my mind for a while and I have to say in person it looks just like I thought it would. The only downside so far with all the black is that I'm going to have to buy stock in vinegar companies so I can keep all the water spots off it. Kind of a pain but worth it.

After reading through a lot of threads on this board regarding the wake on this boat, I've had several chances to weight it down. My impression of the wake is that no matter how much weight is added it does not get a big size-wise as my 02. From the boat, and even on a board it looks small. When actually hitting the wake with a proper cut however I found it to have excellent pop. It took 3-4 sets before I got used to the width of it and having to wait a count longer then on mine, but the more I hit it the more I like it. It is a very user-friendly wake with great pop.

We ran the stock ballast - 950# plus 400# on each side of the motor and 600# in the walkway. With 5 guys in the boat I couldn't get it to plane despite the MCX. I ended up draining the rear tanks 3/4 of the way and the wake was very crisp and hard. Speaking with Zane Schwenk last Friday, the boat really needs the 14x14.7 prop instead of the 13x17 it came with.

Anyways.......have to thank Jimmy Harville and Todd Nicol at Texas Mastercraft for all the patience they have had with me in this process. Also BIG props to Craig at Grand Prairie Audio for the tint and install on the boat. It's seriously loud.

Nice boat man. I wish we could have gotten our X-30 blacked out like that. Make sure to take care when cleaning it so that you dont swirl it.

BTW What kind of bags are you using?

That is Sick................... I agree you might want to invest in a vinegar company to try to recoop some of your money. Also keep alot of wax on it.

Although it is kind of ironic that you asked how to keep it shiny and posted a pic of it beached, props for beaching it too. That looks like nice soft sand, and IMO boats are built to be used, not to cleaned and polished obsessively. Then again, I have an old scratched up '96 VLX. ;)

I was on an ~03 X10 a few weeks ago that would not plane at WOT with the ballast full and 2 people on board. I couldn't believe it. I really don't understand why boats are propped the way they are from the factory. I suppose it's to appease the "so how fast will it go?!" wallies, or so someone doesn't spend an hour cruising unloaded and bouncing off the rev limiter. A lower pitch prop will really wake up any boat. 13" is a small diameter for modern power ratings anyway. WTF?

I've ridden on almost every boat made, and seen a ton of different colorschemes on them. This is probably (IMO) the best looking boat out of any of them. Simple really seems the best way to go on a boat with such radical lines as the x-2 or x-star. The tint job came out awesome too! Congrats on your new boat, and thanks again for the virgin pulls behind it Zack, you rock!

nice, aren't worried about visibility with the tint though? Can you see debris or a rider in the water at dusk ?

First off thanks for all the comments.......I really wanted a classic, yet simple color scheme but something that stood out.

To all the comments about beaching it.......it is very soft sand there and I beached my black hulled 02 there for 4 years and never had a problem. We do have buoys there for anchoring the front down and turning the boat around.

Boat has 400# on each side of the motor, 600# in the walkway, full KGB (350# I think) and the rear 250# tanks 1/4 full + 5 guys........riding at 80' at 25mph.

nice boat. you could put more weight up front to help you plane out.
if you use vinegar then you are taking the wax off the boat every time. you may try babes boat bright (wax and cleaner) instead.

As long as you use 50/50 vinegar/water and wipe it off right away, it doesn't take much of the wax off.

to plane out you might want to loose the extra belly sack and go 4-6 bags of lead up in the front (you should be able to full your rear tanks)

Wake doesn't look that big at all man. Looks like the wake on our X-30 with just the stock ballast full nad 3 or 4 people on it.

The boat looks sick, the wake looks god awful. I had a hard time riding that boat in a comp, definately not my favorite. Congrats on the boat though the thing looks tough.

All the comments about the wake are correct.......looking at it from the pictures it's not very impressive compared to my weighted X1 or a 210TE. Even while out standing next to on a board I really had my doubts.....and yet when you take a PROPER cut into this wake it's got just as much pop as both I've mentioned above.

The thing everyone who has ridden the boat has noticed is that it's not a "lazy" wake......if you dont edge all the way through the top of the wake you will case the wake every time. My first couple of sets I had a big problem with this.......whereas on a heavily weighted 210 you can take a lazy cut and let the wake do the work for you.

The interesting thing I've discovered about this wake is that at 80' around 24.5mph it gets really hard with a great vert lip.....and I normally rode at 70' 24.2 on my X1 so it's not like I'm used to riding that long a line. You can charge the wake from both sides and get a really good kick.

FYI.....I'm not defending the wake because I own the boat now. I have the opportunity to ride on plenty of makes of weighted boats all the time and my 02 X1 was my favorite wake. This wake is just much different then a normal wake and does take a little time to figure out.

Zach - Let me know when you have room for an extra because I would like to see how you weigh your boat and the wake firsthand. We need to get Richie to put some more weight in his X2 for some of our lessons, but I agree that if you edge all the way through the wake it has good pop.

I've been playing with the weight on my 06 X2 as well. I put 400lbs of sand bags under the seats (behind the driver and where the cooler cut out is) and 250s on the sides of the engine with a little in the bow.

I had the same thoughts about the wake, it's not very impressive until you hit it, then WOW, tons of pop.

Couple questions - what do you have your PerfectPass settings for Kdw and NN set at? What rope length and boat speed are you doing with the boat sacked out?
