We hit a rock today and bent the prop. It's an OJ 13x13, and I'm pretty sure all 3 blades are bent. I can definitely see damage on 2 blades. We were just idling when we hit, so I'm hoping it's just the prop. Boat is a 2007 Moomba Outback. Here are my questions:

1. I don't have a puller, so is there a specific one I need?

2. What's normal cost to rework the prop?

3. If the prop is unrepairable, what's the best place to get one? Average cost?

4. Is there a way I can verify (in my driveway) that the shaft and everything else is ok?

5. Should I just chalk it up as part of the boat owning experience and take it to the dealer?

I really don't mind taking it to the dealer for service, but with the expertise on this forum I figured if it's something relatively straight forward I could save a little money and more importantly time.

at idle speed usually just prop. if blades are attached it is repairable. typically around 100-125. most dealers or prop repair shops will loan a puller.
you should buy a spare prop and a puller. OJ or Acme sell emergency kits that will save your weekend.

Go directly to a prop repair shop dont go through a dealer, It will save you money. Get the prop fixed throw it back on and hit the lake. No vibration and everything runs well your good to go

My guess is its just the prop as well. We've hit a huge log doing about 23-24mph. Just bent the prop.

I second getting a spare prop and puller so if it happens again it doesnt ruin the trip. We got a spare and since have never hit anything go figure. Its just peace of mind.

I have a very slightly used acme 13x12, .080 cup, 1-1/8" bore, LH only its called the 515. It should work great for your application and will give you a little more hole shot! $250 PM me Duffy

I agree with Ryan.

1. buy a new prop.
2. buy a prop puller.
3. pull bent prop and go to a prop repair place to have it bent and balanced.
4. put new prop on, place old prop and puller (along with the necessary tools) into a bag/case and put it in your boat or tow vehicle.

I have had my acme re-bent and balanced twice. Now it is my back up prop, but I would have no problems using it as my front line prop.
