That does look sweet. Details on the printing, please. A single pass on a color plotter on a roll of rice paper?

TWP now has the ability to take any photo or digital file and make a laminate for a board. This is a board with a digital print.

Thanks all for the props! It is so fun to make a product/piece of art that the customer just can't stop smiling when they see it. Cost wise it is about $50/side extra for the print. The airbrushing on the rails was super tricky to get lined up just right with the cut print (pinlines are great! ) Jeff, you are right - single pass color plotter on the rice paper. Probably similar to what Mike W is doing in the pic from Dennis above. I like that one too!

Thats cool Smed. Yep this is how for instance Lost and others are doing graphic on their boards. Did you used regular inject printer with regular inks or something special? Where to get ricepaper in rolls?

I got to see this thing in person last weekend and these pics are great, but you can't believe how glossy this board is. It is Amazing! I am interested to see what kind of traction is going on it, because it would be a shame to cover up that print. I know Smed had something coming to try, I hope it works. Great job on the board again Matt, awesome!

Whatever you do don't put clear traction on it. The stuff is horrible. It's a great looking board but don't sacrifice performance for looks. El Gripo is slightly better but still sucks.

Hey Petr, it is printed on a high end plotter -- wish I could get results like that at home with the inkjet Wardo Which clear traction are you talking about? Hula dek or actual clear traction pads? Surfco Hawaii makes some clear pads, but I haven't tried them yet. Customer just put a black tail pad and a little bit of black traction for the front foot - but he hasn't decided if he wants to do more cuz he doesn't want to cover it up. Looks pretty cool right now with just the little bit of traction, but performance wise he is going to want more. It actually kind of matches his new boat wrap. he's considering hula dek around the traction...

Petr, Hula dek is a roll on clear coat that feels like sandpaper.

I was talking about clear traction pads. I've never used one but I've heard nothing but bad things from people who have. Supposedly they're thick, heavy, and slippery.

Seems like clear anything is just not up to the performance standards. I got a roll of clear griptape for my wakeskate and it just doesn't last near as long as the regular stuff.

I heard that Surfco Hawaii clear pads are kinda slippery when wet, BUT there is a notice on them that you must wash them with soap (or something like that) before first use - probably to clean it from some film which is part of production process or what ... I guess.

when we did the ASR demo we used the surfco pads they gave away we had to wax them to get some grip here is the traction that transom uses on their boards

No, actually they contributed to a thread entitled "personalized custom graphics" that also took a direction into grip pads.
