The STUnami looks gnarly!! What's the setup and speed for that wave?

I want to post pics, but everyone in here puts my pics to shame

Ok, so we have seen a lot of pictures of waves that are really tall, but the size of a wave isn't necessarily the best indicator of how good it is. The right combination of size, shape and length is what produces the best wakesurf wave. This is my best example of the "best" wakesurf wave.

My amigo Drew Danielo nearly 30 feet behind the boat on a Phase 5 board:

Mitch, definitely agree with your assessment on judging a wake. I would add a fourth criteria for the amount of "Push" or "Force" behind the wake. Having a big steep wake doesn't necessarily mean it is a great wake to surf behind.

I guessse we will see each other soon, can't wait; Tulloch?

Hope all is well. Alan

I am ILL - but wasn't on Sunday. :-)

Isn't that air huge? We gauged it at around 30 inches...not the largest of the day, but the largest I got a decent picture of.

Alan, I'm too busy playing hooky to do taxes! :-) Is Tulloch happening this year? I haven't heard - I think that Mike Armostrong is tight with the Centurion/Tulloch Resort folks, he should know.

The wave in the picture I posted was going 13 mph on a Centurion Enzo SV230 with full standard ballast, 350 lbs. in the bow on the port side, 500 lbs. on the floor located as far to the port side as possible, 450 lbs. on the port side seats (fat bricks), 5 people in the boat and the SwitchBlade set at 3.5.

Also, to answer your question that is not dual boat surfing, though if we were to speed the boats up to 18 mph and get them a little closer together it was a great setup for it. We did some dual boat surfing later on the same trip and it is totally wild.

doug, this is my 2007 supra 21v surf wake. pretty un-impressive in my opinion. ESPECIALLY with all the additional ballast. The pic with the camera virtually on the water makes it look better than it really is.

The wakeboarding wave on the other hand is VERY impressive. Since I discovered surfing I rarely wakeboard, so I sold her this spring. My next boat will be something that throws an awesome surf wave.

rear port locker stock bag totally full.
750 across back seat
750 on port side seat
150 in front port side
2 ppl in boat. one driving and one on the port side.
might have had the center bag partially filled, cant remember.

CR,

If you want to stay with the 21' range, check out the Tige Z1, I took one out a couple of weeks ago for the first time.

Posted some pics here. http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/576080.html?1210293878

Thanks CR,

I too, bought mine for wakeboarding and then shortly thereafter discovered wakesurfing. Surfing is all we do now. I think I might try the Enzo bag in the port locker and see if that makes a big difference.

Lake Wylie NC. Dont know when we will get to do it again, that beast is twin diesel and likes to drink. We prolly burned $250 in the hour and a half we were out.

I'm not a real great surfer, just kinda like to cruise along and have fun. That wake was just awesome and I would love to see someone really tear it up.
