Hello all,

Just bought a 2009 Tige z1 (3700lb dry) and am looking for a used boat lift. The IRS folks were not nice to me this year so my boat lift budget is being crushed.

Been looking on Craigslist for awhile w no success based on the weight desired and/or lack of extended upright canopy.

Anyone buying a bigger boat and looking to move your 4600-6000lb lift that is all set up for a wakeboard boat? If so, shoot me an email at johnkinsey at gmail.com

Thanks!

No luck on any of those places I gave you?

There were a lot on CL last year after the ice went out.... Wait a little bit.

Finding anything used in the weight range you listed it really tough. The used ones seem to stop at 3600 lbs. You are the guy from TO site I gave the dealer info to right?

I agree with Charlie - was in the same situation last year and needed one in the same weight range as you do ... even if people have purchased new lifts at the boat show - it's a while before they will go in ... ice is pretty solid right now here in the cities ...

I looked at CL for a while and saw something but it was too early and then I felt like a complete moron for not buying it immediately ... guess what - got a Floe with electric lift and 25ft canopy for 7700 ... don't remember who sent me that link last year here but it was perfect

I think he is looking for a used one. I assume for $7700 that was new.

I know i gave him a place that had a 5000 for right around $5000 brand new with canopy and wheel kit. But that wasn't including the electric motor.
Old     (sidekicknicholas)      Join Date: Mar 2007       03-20-2013, 3:42 PM Reply
My brother sells them (new) and says for a new
5000# lift (Shorestation)
Wheel / Crank +$500 for electric
Canopy (24 ft.)
delivery / setup / tax
would be like like $8500 give or take.

I would say I could get you a deal from him, but he lives in central Wisconsin and I doubt he would make the journey that far. He also said they cannot ship the components to your door (at least shorestation)

Just FYI on a new price

Those run cheaper than that in MN because they are made here. But that is ballpark.

....I got our old life (used) one #4000 I believe, with canopy for $1000. Lucky score, my dad sold a house (he did real estate at the time) and the guy didn't want to take it with so we made him a $800 offer, he said $1000, and we were happy with that.

Like other said, spring is a good time... also in in Minneapolis there are dock/boat lift removal companies, ask them to keep an eye open and call you for a finders fee. I have another buddy with a crane on a barge (Wisconsin too) and puts lifts in/out .... he comes across them all the time

If JK is the guy I think he is I gave him the name of 5-6 companies up north that sell lifts for alot better prices than he was getting quoted in the metro. I know one of the places quoted me right around $5000 for a brand new 4000 lb(carry over) vertical with a wheel kit and canopy and that was floated to my dock. It was some off brand lift but looked to be well made and the guy has sold that brand for 10 plus years with no problem.

Maybe I am cheap but there is no way I am paying $7500 plus for a lift. Seems just way to much for the materials and technology used to make them. Floe is about the worst as far as pricing. They are just crazy.

Huge pita, i got my 2008 210 last summer and had to sell my 36108 to get 50120. I paid $3,600 for used shoremaster 50120 cantilever with 23 foot canopy, decent cover, brand new elec motor. There are some good values out there.

I am going to buy some full length guide on's and trade in the upright ones, shown below which are useless.

I was was looking for the same thing but ended up buying a new Beach King (5000 lb with 26 ft tower canopy) for about 8k at the boat show. The price above talking about a Floe for $7700 is certainly used. I priced out the same thing with Flow at the who's and it came to about $11k-12k. Those things are pricey!

Thanks for the responses guys. Sounds like there are some good deals to be had in the next month or so.

Board man - those places up north were not too excited to ship it down to my place in the cities. I am trying to work w a couple near St. Cloud to see what they have. (Tried to get o to TO last night to message you but it was down)

Another question - if I can find a really good priced 4000 lb lift (boat is 3700 lb dry) would it be worth the "risk"?

Nice lift.

I definitely wouldn't risk it. I didn't consider any lift less than 1000lb over my dry weight. Figure 300-400 lbs for a full tank of gas, a couple people at 180lbs each, and gear. 300lbs buffer is not nearly enough. I'd rather over spend a bit on the lift than risk the damage.

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...674721552.html this would be awesome, but you still need a canopy or something...my neighbor has a hydraulic - although not shoremaster and hers is super fast and super quiet...i am a bit jealous. until the wind blows and then her cheap ass lift canopy blows terribly compared to my shoremaster. and hers is always leaning.

JK, I bet they didn't want to ship!! I figured you'd just move it yourself. Most of them travel on a snowmobile trailer just fine.

The challenge I had is that 50120 lift is just that 120 inches or 10 feet wide. Max road width without a permit is 9 feet I think. I did not have any idea how to apply for permits for each and every county that i passed through to get from minnetonka to burnsville. i used a boat trailer to move the cradle and just let the 10 feet hang off and took my chances. nobody pulled me over....lucked out that time.

I saw that 6k shoremaster. Lets say i get it for $4k, add a canopy for $2500 and guide ons ($??). What else would I need?

Guide-one are about 6-700. Tats probably all you need assuming the lift works. You might have to get new bunks if the lift was setup for a pontoon.
Old     (jeff_mn)      Join Date: Jul 2009       03-20-2013, 8:13 PM Reply
If you are going to buy used - buy it now before the ice goes out. Then you can drive a truck on the ramp to their shore, load it up and take it to your place.. It sucks trying to move them in the summer unless they have a flat lot and a straight path to their driveway..

I picked mine up in Brainerd for like $800 or something. Used 23' with canopy (no motor) but it was only 3,600 or something pounds.. It was steel, heavier than a SOB (many WW'ers can confirm that) but never budged in the wind when I had it and did the job fine..

I can't imagine spending $8,500 on a lift.. Dang..

I was thinking $5k for a used one or $3k for a used one. So seeing quotes (even for off brands) come in above $10k blew my mind! Especially after the IRS did their work this year...

That is what i was thinking. We will be selling the old 36108 in the spring with canopy and wheel kit for $2500. Hoping to upgrade for $1000.

What JD says is true. When we bought that 36108 the guy lived on a cliff. He only had about a 40 foot wide strip by the beach then probably 150 feet up the tree covered cliff to his cabin. The guy thought we where just going to magic that thing to the back yard to load. We made it part of the deal that when we came back with the trailer it was in the back yard ready to load. In is case and many lakes the lift had to be floated to the access and loaded there. That can be a big cost. When I was looking places where quoting me $3-500 to deliver the lift. Thats their lift with a sale. To move one just to a place you can load it I'd count on $500. To bring it all the way to your place and unload it in the water I'd count on at least a $1000.

The shoremaster has guideons already...cant you see them in the picture? That being said, you should count on another $1500 to fix it. The pumps and pistons do go out so you never know. Neighbor got hers and it worked perfectly for half a season and then it would not stay up. She would raise it and 3 hours later the boat was down. Once it floated away.

yes the Floe was used - a year old with new canopy - I could even choose the color. Lift was dropped off in my driveway - had to put it in myself or better got someone to do it which was another 400 bucks. 700 bucks of the whole deal was taxes alone so I think I got a deal. Getting a lift rated at 5000 for 5K new would be a sweet deal if RB sent you that link ... guess you have 2 options: Being patient and scanning CL daily (and possibly having add on costs for transport etc.) or know upfront how much it's going to be ... you still have time ... ice is still 2 feet in some places ;-)

Check out the new Pier Pleasure Hydrodynamic lifts.... Very fast up and down. No cables to fail like the vertical lifts. Price wise, it was actually a bit cheaper for the lift versus a Floe or Shore Station..... But, then I added the Touchless Cover.... Not regrets on the Touchless Cover though. It's abslutely awesome to not have to screw around with covering the boat.

Lift, without a canopy, is probably going to be in the 8K neighborhood??? (You'd need to call and talk to Brett at Niccum Dock to get a current price). That's for a 6,000 LB lift. I wouldn't go any less for a wakeboat.

Canopy runs about $5,500. You can also order that from Niccum Dock. That is for a 26' x 11' x 7' high power curtains. They are custom ordered and sized to your lift and your specs. I oversized mine to leave room for a larger boat in the future.

I wanted long curtains to protect my boat from the sun, and this system was only marginally more than the factory canopies, plus 18" to 24" extensions added on. The convenience factor of this canopy is huge though....

"That's for a 6,000 LB lift. I wouldn't go any less for a wakeboat."

While I think more is always better. I am personally very comfortable with my 5,000lb capacity shoremaster for 3,900 Nautique 210. Some other lift brands I would probably want higher capacity.

I have a 3100 lb wakeboat. Why would I need a 6000 lb lift. You spent 13.5K on just the lift? My old boat wasn't worth that....crazy! Must be a MN Inboard customer. I keep hoping to be rich someday!!
Old     (cwkoch)      Join Date: Aug 2006       03-21-2013, 3:07 PM Reply
No, I got a bit of a better deal than that.....

The heavy lift is nice for future heavier boats. I can also dunk the boat in the lake when a big storm is coming, fill the ballast tanks, and put it back up, and not have to be worried about the lift getting flipped over in strong winds.

I guess if I had a Tige, I woudn't be all that concerned with keeping it mint.....

What are your lift specs boardman? I need a lift for pontoon, the newly purchased boat is stealing the lift pontoon was on.

I do definitely agree with planning for bigger heavier boat. But if I get rich enough to go improve from a 2008 nautique 210 then money will be no object. LOL. This is a vague reference to all the rich dudes buying $100++k g23's.

Bison the lift we are selling is a shore station 36108(3600 lb/ 108 wide). Wheel kit and canopy.

Koch, rather ride in my Tige than anything from the cake eaters over where you are at. I'm sure you drive a beamer or a benz and look down your nose at people like me. I'm sure you feel better looking down at me because the people with real money over that way look down at you with your 3 year old little boat. What ever helps you sleep at night brother!!

I promise you my boat is cleaner than yours. Its new.

Boardman - refresh my memory again on the lift you found for $5k new. That was from Heinees, yeah?

Did you buy yours yet? If not, tell them I would do a 2 for 1 and fly their flag off my boat full time
Old     (simplej)      Join Date: Sep 2011       03-21-2013, 5:25 PM Reply
Boardman you bought the wrong lift....
They vastly under rate the RZR they weigh it With the 303 and an interior... 0 options so they can squeeze it under ALL size and weight requirements... You'll be pushing north of 4000 lbs with gear and gas

And don't worry about cwkoch he sits in his chair when he rides so he has to size up the other wakeboat owners.
Old     (boardman74)      Join Date: Jul 2012       03-21-2013, 5:27 PM Reply
Yeah it was at Heinee's. It was an off brand and I can't remember. He told me right around 5k when I was looking late last summer. The lifts were still sitting in there a few weeks ago when I drove by there. That was a 4000 lbs aluminum vertical with wheel kit and a canopy. He said it was only a few hundred to convert it to a 5000 as it was the same lift with different brackets and reinforcement. I should be up there in the next few weeks. I can stop in and talk to him.

I also found a place by Brainard that has over a 100 used lifts and they are running $3500-$4000 for that size used. I can get you that website too if you want it. You can save some cash if you willing to take a day trip north.
Old     (boardman74)      Join Date: Jul 2012       03-21-2013, 5:27 PM Reply
Simple I haven't even bought a lift yet, so i'm not sure what you are talking about. I'm selling a 3600 lb lift we have had for about 10 years, if thats the one you are referring too. Thats why it's getting sold not enough.

I keep lifejackets and gas in my boats and thats about it, so I think a 5000 will be ok.

And Simple I have the 303 and zero options so I am probably that weight!!

My b this makes it sound you got a lift.
Keep what I said In mind though that weight does not include tower, stereo equipment, basically anything, there's no standard for weighing boats so to cut size requirements they took a barebones boat and weighed it. We run a 4800lb lift and I'd feel confident putting an old xstar/x25 on it

Yeah i can see that...I was referring to him saying all wakeboats needed atleast a 6000 lift.

But mine will probably stay pretty close to advertised weight. Its stays on the lake so not much stays in the boat. Will probably only see boards in the racks 2-3 times a year. We ride from the dock unless it's the rare day we have to head across the lake to find good water.
Old     (simplej)      Join Date: Sep 2011       03-21-2013, 5:41 PM Reply
I figure tiges tower 200+lbs. 240lbs In gas, second battery 65 lbs, stereo equipment 70lbs, equipment 50 lbs and any other options you got 50-100 lbs. so looking north of 3800 real quick even with 303, I, guessing the 343 is heavier, boat test had a test weight of a medium loaded boat of 4000lbs. I doubt they had much gear on board. It adds up quick

So I'd say stick with the 4500 and up

Wow they weigh them with just the hull when it come standard with a tower? Thats misleading. I have availability to a scale so when I pick it up I will run across the scale with just a tank of fuel. Then weigh the trailer after I drop it in the water. Yeah adds up quick!!

Yes this is the reason the weight dropped from 3498 on 2011 to 3100 it is at now. There are a few lakes with 20 foot, 3200 lb limits, so rather than give a optioned out weight like they normally do they gave stripped down weight for the wakeboarding pleasure of those with size restrictions

End hijack

Just do your homework people!

Charlie.....you think your Malibu is better than a Tige and probably everything else.

You paid over 13K just for your boat lift.

You brag about how high you can jump your air chair on a wakeboard site. You even write about how "pimped" out it is in your profile!

You, sir, are a cake eater!!

Also FYI, this is a WAKEBOARD site. Sure you can jump higher than us wakeboarders. Question is can you compete with with the people in your sport. I'm guessing not as you are trolling a wakeboard site. Maybe check out Air Chair World or something.
Old     (cwkoch)      Join Date: Aug 2006       03-22-2013, 9:26 AM Reply
LOL....

No, I don't think my boat is better than everything else.... There are lots of good boats out there.

What does it matter to you how much I paid for a boat lift? Does it affect you?

I don't believe I said anything about my hydrofoils being "pimped" out in my profile. I merely listed what is on them. Foilers would understand what that stuff means. It's all pretty standard.

FYI- Wakeworld is a great source of BOAT info, which is why I'm on here... It's pretty rare that I even look at the wakeboard section, just the boat and vehicle section.

You Tige owners seem so pissed off all the time.... Are you unhappy with the decisions you made while shopping for a boat?
blah blah blah. you bought a 5000 dollar chair to go ten feet higher than me, sick bro, im glad that validates your ego. im guessing next youre going to ask me how many frames i stay in the air.

and no not pissed off. just sick of pompous malibu/mc owners looking down their noses as if youre comparing LaFerrari with a carolla. "i guess if i had a tige, i wouldnt be all that concerned with keeping it mint" ...as if large amounts of money and pride aren't displayed with boat ownership, ranging from nautique 2001's from the 80's to the brand new 150k g25s, yea bro, like we totally wouldnt call you out on that.

Back to the boat lift conversation, anyone had a Craftlander? Dealer is comparing to Shorestation but the price is much better.

Thoughts?

And I do want to keep my Tige looking as mint as possible

They look solid. They are an industrial manufacturer and look to build quality stuff. They don't list dealers online, who is the local dealer? How is their pricing?

I got the quote from boathoistdirect.com. $5500 delivered.

Local = Michigan?

Yeah I saw they were out of Michigan, they said you could call or email for a dealer in your area. I didn't know if you had found a dealer local. What does that include for the $5500? What size? Canopy? Wheel kit?

Looks like a great price.

Anybody have experience with Beach King? I went with them because it seemed to me like the lowest price with heavy duty construction. Hoping I made the right call.

Do people lower their towers when they put their boats away for a couple days up to a week?

Here is a pic of my old rig on the lift. I always put the tower down. I could get it high enough with the tower up so it would be out of the water, so I could leave for a little bit if needed without having to mess with putting the tower down. But I never left it overnight with the tower up, even with my short side curtains I could get it tucked in their quite nicely (not all the way up in the pic). 2 foot extensions on the current side curtain I had, it would have been money.

We went with a feighner and have been very pleased. The price was good and to say the lift is beefy is an understatement. You might want to give them a try as well

Anyone use Newman as their lift? They seem to have a pretty good price and build quality seems reasonable.

Thanks!!!

Yes, family has used Newman lifts, docks and a snowmobile trailer for decades. My opinion on lifts, decent builds, good pricing, have gotten better over time, overall I would say average.

I'd say docks and trailers have been good for a long time and lifts finally caught up in the last 10 years.

Does anyone know of any cheaper lifts around the tonka area. I am looking to avoid leaving my 2000 MC X5 sitting in the water this summer? Are there any serious ramifications from it sitting in the lovely waters of tonka for a couple weeks at a time? I am a new boat owner and want to avoid any costly mistakes! Greatly appreciate all input!
PS: Arent you guys supposed to be MN nice?

Depends on where you are on Tonka- that lake gets really rough at times- i'd be really careful letting it float for 2 weeks. Plus, parts of the lake are pretty scummy- where's your place?

Tyler, I am about to order an airdock to use for my new MC X2 that I will keep out on Tonka. I have always wetslipped my old Maristar for the past 6 years with no issues...just have to clean it up real good at the end of the season. FYI...quote I got on the airdock was approximately $2600 and I won't have to pay someone $1000 to install/remove/store my lift each season. My slip is in Spring Park Bay where it can get pretty rough at times, especially with a big south wind.

I will be renting a slip from a buddy on black lake, so its pretty protected back in there. I'm not thrilled about leaving in there; however, seems like unless you drop 2k your not gonna find anything that can support a wakeboard boat. I am keeping my eyes peeled on Craigslist though for one that someone wants to get rid of quick!
