What is this worth?

I've been thinking about selling the streetbike and getting back to dirt or a track bike. Something this clean caught my attention. Thanks!

not very much. The 426 is not a desirable bike. I bet he has a hell of a time getting ride of it, and he'll likely cry over what he finally gets. The 450s made huge leaps in power, reliability, and rideability. The 426 was sort of the first attempt at the modern, 4 stroke mx bike.

If you want an MX 4 stroke, I would stay with a 250 or 450, and somthing 2004 or newer. More bang for your buck.

1500 bucks? those bikes are so old, so heavy, and just plain technologically outdated at this point. the guys says he as 5k in receipts to me its a total waste of money. like restoring a 1998 honda civic. best thing for that dude is to keep it and ride it. he's not gonna get close to what he wants for that thing

Fair enough! Thanks for the honest answers. I know jack about 4-strokes and this looked nice.

That is a very clean bike. Wanna compare new and old? Here ya go:

2002 : http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/yam...426_f_2002.php

2010: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr...9/0/specs.aspx

To me, the biggest issue is getting it started. The first year of the 426 had starting issues and continued with the first couple of years of the 450. If you go 4 stroke, especially for trail riding, I cannot say enough about electric start. It's not just about getting flooded. It's about technique and the adjustment of the valves. Anyone can push a button and I'd rather spend my time/energy riding instead of kicking. That is one reason I have a KTM. They have an electric starter on almost everything and most are all ready for a tag.

If you buy that bike you'll want to spend a lot of time in the gym working on your right leg strength. I've seen people kick those for a 1/2 hour trying to get them started on cold mornings. I guess it's a good way to get warmed up for your ride. Personally I'll take my 1-kick 2-stroke over one of those anyday.

The new fuel injected 450's? Hmmmm, that's a different story. They're sweet.

I would run...not walk away from that one...like others have said.

That bike is a tank, but it's clean and has lots of upgrade, it might be worth 1500.

Evan it has the 450 cam in it so it no longer has the decomp lever so it starts just like any other 4 stroke.

I'll believe it when I see it. Ha, ha, ha....

I guess I've seen too many flooded, overheated or otherwise pissed off 4-strokes that make their owners kick them for minutes at a time. I could throw my bike down a hill, let it sit upside down for 5 minutes with gas pouring out of it, then pick it up and it'd start within 3-4 kicks. For me, that makes it all worth it. If I raced MX it'd be a whole other story.

I picked up one of the new fuel injected 450s earlier this year. Its honestly too much bike for me, but the deal on it was too good to pass up. Its nice knowing that it will start on the 2nd kick every time, even if it hasn't been started in a month or its been sitting upside down.

I rode my buddies 450 was I was still learning. It was the easiest bike to ride. Like a tractor, I could ride through anything.
