Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a boat in the 2000 to 2002 year range cause that's all I can afford right now and was curious as to what model and year threw the best wake?

pretty much all inboard vdrives will work. just depends on what you want and make sure the you have a good dealer to work with.

The search button produces a great wake.

There are a ton of good boats out there. I'd suggest you go out and look around. When you've narrowed it down to a few boats come back and ask for the boards input.

Good hunting

check out the super air nautiques, they make a great wake and you can actually find them as old as a 95 but then it will be known as the super sport nautique. You will most likely never need a better wake than what this boat produces.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to the older x-star, or the air nautique. I just don't know much about the nautique's and what years they changed the shapes of the hull?

The super air hull was made from 95 to 2006 with no changes in the hull, just the deck and interior. The interior didn't change from 2002 to 2006, just a weird tower switch that only lasted 1 year in 04. I actually like the 04 tower but to many complained about it limiting head room. The older super sports don't have ballast or a tower in some cases though, most people who own them have added them. The boat throws a great wake though. The older sport nautiqes share the same hull too, but the freeboard is much lower than that of the v-drive boats.

Older x star is a great choice as well and makes a nice wake with some weight in it. My buddy who owns one loves it, his only beef is that the interior is not holding up as well as it should and he takes very good care of his boat, and stores it in a covered storage.

IMO you can't go wrong with either as long as the boat is in good condition. If you can you should try to ride behind each and see which wake suits you better, the nautique will have a steeper wake than the x-star and the x-star will have better transitions with no trough(spell?). Both are great though and are top notch wakes when you get up into the 2000lb area with properly distributed weight.
Good luck on finding the boat of your dreams.
