Hi,

This is the first year with my new boat and trailer. I have a 03 escalade and my trailer is an V&M.

When i hook the trailer on the truck, the rear suspension goes way down! The air suspension keeps working all the time, and i'v notice that the tongue of the trailer is ultra heavy. I would like to get less weight on the tongue but i don't see any ajustements that can be made, like other trailers i had in the past.

Any hints?

thanks

Onyl way to get less tongue weight is by moving the boat back slightly. Can your bow stop adjust any at all? Your problem could be the air suspension as well. Alot of times they develope slow leaks and that makes them run all the time especially with a load on them.

Over here (Aus) we have to have 10% of the trailers' ATM down pressure on the towball. You either have to move the load further back or move axle/s forward.

Be careful you may be creating a problem. How does the trailed track now? A tandem axle trailer should have 9-15% of the total weight of the boat and trailer on the tow ball. If you lighten the tongue weight you may cause the trailer to sway when towing. There are lots of websites that show how to measure tongue weight. The Escalade has a softer suspension than the trucks and other SUVs you may have to beef up the suspension.

It's the suspension as is with my Range Rover, the air bags are not made for that kinda load. Even they say it has tow package it don't tow very well. I don't know what size boat? I've got a SAN 220 which is a heavy boat. I just pull with a F-250.
