so It seem every year i have the same problem and I have no clue to what it could be. I have an 86 supra with a 454. Its seems every time im out and running a while and shut the motor down. When i go to restart it seems like the battery is dead but I will hit the started again and it turns over fine like normal. Battery is new, new resistor, rebuild starter. I cant find any power draw. Do I need a bigger battery or 2 batteries? could I be pulling to many amps when the motor turns over?

You can have that tested..... to see just how many amps it's taking to turn over your engine.

I used to have a similar problem with my 205 where it would turn over really slow, then start right up. It usually happened when it was hot out, and the engine was hot. Turned out to be a vapor lock problem. Not sure how a vapor lock issue turns into the engine turning over really slow.

Did you check for corrosion in the circuit? Check all cables and connections, disconnect and clean all points of contact. If this does not help have the starter rechecked for brush wear/contacts and components.

wire brush ALL your contacts. Including the ground. If you have wingnut connections, crank them down with a pair of pliers.

How old are you cables? They can corrode and create a weak circuit. may be time to replace them.

Ill check tonight. I have had the boat for five years and they are the same cables. The look to be in good shape but Ill replace them if it will help.
