which bindings do you think is better, alphas or transits? right now im leaning towards the 05 alphas because they seem to be nearly the same binding its just they dont have the FAST system and the foot bed different but they are $70 cheaper. im a little worried about the FAST system, i would think it could come loose on hard falls. my budget isnt really that tight because i have till april to get the money, so which bindings would you choose and why?

save your money, go with the alphas. spend the money you save on gas.

another question, do you think it is possible to put twin laces on the alphas (one around the ankle and one around the toes)? i dont see why you couldnt from the pictures.

greg, i'd just chill a little and wait for a 70 dollar cheaper pair of the transits on ebay if thats what ya want. just gotta keep your eyes open and a new pair at the right price will pop up. fast system aint gonna pop out on ya. fast system gives ya the ability to dial in the perfect stance. footbed is much nicer imho. they're both nice bindings but I wouldnt trade my transits for anything.

Coming from someone who has both....the Transits are way better bindings, period. The difference in price is nearly $100, but it is worth it if you need a supportive binding. That is where the Transit outperforms the Alpha. The transit comes up higher and is way stiffer, whereas the alpha is lower and more flexible. I actually ride the Alphas at the cable park because the are a bit easier to get on and off and and are more flexible, which gives me freedom for nose presses and such. But behind the boat where you are landing hard in the flats, there is no replacement for the Transits support. Depending on what style of riding you do, both are great bindings. Keep in mind that you can bag a pair of Brand New 04 Transits on ebay for about 170. Wow, this post was too long...

I put 2 laces on my alphas last year and loved it. It's real easy to do and you will love it. Save your money and go with the alphas they have plenty of support!!!! 2 cents

I started the year off in Alphas and although I liked them they were a bit too lose for my left foot. I got the transits and I couldn't be happier. If you interested in the Alphas I could sell you mine for a good deal.

For those of you with the transits, how does the sizing go? I wear an 11 shoe and currently ride a Large Hyp Belmont ('03) binding (perfect fit) - I'm looking to switch, but have heard some folks recommend going to XL with the Liquid Force bindings since their sizing is a little different.

By the way to stay on topic, I've seen 04 Transits on ebay go for $150 no problem. You can find them if you're patient. Oh yeah, are the 04 transits better/worse than the new 05?

Thanks for the help.

David, the 04 Transits are way worse then the 05's. They changed alot on the 05's that make them way more durable, although they aren't really any more comfortable. But you can just buy the 04's off ebay and then if they break, warranty them and LF will send you the 05's. As far as sizing, you and I are right on. I wear an 11 shoe, and rode Large Hype Belmonts for years, perfect fit. I then switched over to a Large Transit. Try them on, but you will end up with Larges I am sure. The XL's are huge. They came up to my knee, and I could tighten them all the way up and then pull my foot out.

I have a pair of 05 large narrow transits that are brand new in the box for sale on ebay right now. They are listed at $225.

so nearly everyone thinks that the transits are worth the extra money? everyone has made good points and i will probably end up getting the transits because of the support issue, the overall build looks to be better too. thanks for the help! if anyone else has something they would like to add please do

I have tried both and I didnt like the Transits at all. Very hard for me to get into and then it seemed like it was too tight inside the bindnigs. I tried on the Alphas and liked them alot more... especialy for the price! But I still would choose my 05' CWB Zeus over anything!

what's up with the "Narrow" version of the Transits? Is that a huge difference from the normal ones? How much difference?

David- a large narrow would have the large footbed with the medium overlays to fit a long narrow foot better. So, an XL narrow would have the XL footbed with large overlays.

Greg- in my opinion, the Alphas and Transits are both very nice, but I would go with the Transits. It's tough to say for sure which would be best for you, as each person's foot is different. With some people, the Alpha will be more comfortable, and with others, the Transit. I would say in general, though, that the Transit is going to have more support, more comfort, and the footbed is thicker. So, I'd vote for the Transits.

thanks for clearing that up Mike. Now I'm more confused than ever on whether to to with Large, Large Narrow, XLarge, or XLarge Narrow.

I guess I'll just go with standard Larges. I was asking about the narrow because of the previously mentioned pair of Large Narrows on eBay right now.
