Andy, whats the point of having the boom so high? It takes all the skill out of side slides and tricks.

boom high?

we use it to learn, then take it longline. I can do the sideslide longline already, those photos were when I was learning how to do it.

you're invited to come out ANYTIME to show me how easy a side slide at 40 mph is with a high boom. make sure your medical insurance is up to date.

I'm 47 years old, come on out and show me up, we'll post the video of you at the hospital.

let's just see you keep up with Andre De Villiers
The guru of the high boom.

Scarpa has done side slides for years, Andre has reinvented it.

Still haven't found a barefoot forum eh?
Old     (bftskir)      Join Date: Jan 2004       12-12-2008, 1:48 PM Reply
are the ones who make these comments scared of barefooting? are you intimidated by it or what?
Is it because we go twice as fast as you and don't need a giant board strapped to our feet? or any giant board at all?
Are you all afraid you'll get hurt? or just can't do it because we all know ANYBODY can get up on a wakeboard.

I have all the respect in the world for the wakeboarders who are doing insane tricks and I loved the photos in this thread.

and I'm all over all kinds of forums including barefoot forums but its only here that the comments show that some wakeboarders are intimidated by barefooters. I'm really curious, why that is?
Its always good for a laugh though.

Everyone just thinks it's funny because this is a WAKEBOARDING forum. That's all. I respect barefooting and think it's pretty gnarly, but in all honesty could care less about seeing or hearing about it. You're preaching to the wrong choir...

I think its funny too,
most of the pro wakeboarders foot too...I love to see them ripping some barefoot runs. To me it demonstrates a mastery of watersports, remember we are all just getting towed by boats and sliding across the water and wakes. Barefooting has quite a bit in common with wakeboarding.

One of the coolest moves I've seen is a guy doing a raley off a wakeskate as the boat accelerates wide open and landing and barefooting away. There are guys combining footing and boarding.

but Scott since you could care less, I'll see if I can cut back.

That dude was pretty sick in that video, Andre. Pretty impressive, I was just picturing the falls from when you go from backwards to forwards, the 180...must be brutal. BUT WHEN HE JUMPED OFF THE BOAT!!! HOLY SH*TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

he's got some steeze eh?

yeah flying off the boat and landing backwards on barefeet is pretty sick...you will NOT catch me trying that.

he also does an overhead 360 barefoot...look it up if you want to see it, its connected to that BFC video. He and his brother Zane rip it up.
