So, being a new wakeboarder i have a question about a knee brace.

I have been racing bmx for 5 years and last year my acl went bye-bye. After surgery and rehab my knee feels great and i am actually a contender for the state title. I have the knee brace i use for racing. It has no metal parts an was wondering if i could use this while wakeboarding because i am broke but really dont want to mess up my knee again. it is made of Neoprene.

here is what kind of brace it is

so do you think i can use it till i get some money for a better one??

sorry but from the looks of it it wont help you at all for wakeboarding. there is a post my dad posted on here about knee braces this week. everyone says to buy the CTI he just bought it and is going to use it tomorrow. the bad thing is it was 5 bills

CTI is where its at, and there is no comparison to a glorified ace bandage from walgreens.

That being said, if you can't afford to throw down your current set up is better than nothing, even if the benefits are only psychological.

That product (above mentioned soft brace from ACE) will provide warmth and compression for your knee, but will not really provide any true ligament support. Basically, it won't do much in the way of preventing an injury like a rigid functional brace will.
That being said, having it on makes your brain more aware of your injury and your desire to protect it (based on proprioception). So, I would still recommend riding with it until your confidence is back. Until then, ride safe and within your ability.
