This past weekend, we were on our 03 X2. We were hitting 1/2 foot chop and the tower was shaking significantly. The tower didn't seem like it was coming off or anything, but this is our first boat with a tower, and I am a little concerned. Does this seem like a problem?

I have an 02 Xstar and I once had to tighten up the hidden bolts which support the tower. They had worked its way loose. Make sure the tower is bolted tight to the boat. If it's tight then it just might be your are hitting big shop and it's jsut smacking your boat around. I hate riding in water like that becuase I think it's hard on the boat.

Every boat i have ever seen has some sort of tower shaking in the rough lakes around here. I noticed mine started shacking more after adding speakers and boards/racks.

I have an 02 xstar tower on my 205, and it does rattle some in chop. There is some flex in the Zeroflex. I did tighten the 4 bolts this past weekend, and some were 3/4 turn loose. That may help you, but like Big E said, they have have some shaking

I have the same tower on my 04 X2, we call it the "Extraflex Flyer." You should check the 4 main mounting bolts to make sure they are good and tight. They wobble their way loose over time, and this contributes significantly to the tower shaking.

Tightening the bolts will help, but no matter what you do, this tower is still going to shake more than any other tower you see on the lake.

chqwakeboarder-how many speakers and board racks do you have on the tower? As noted above, the more weight up there, the more it will shake back and forth.

Steve,
There are seven post bashing MC in this thread alone. Why do you pick on me?

Internet Troll, that is damn funny. I have seen that stupid mastercraft picture 100 times and Danny has only been a member since Feb 06

Danny,
There's a difference between saying a tower rattles or flexes a little, and refering to mastercrafts product as crap. I've ridden on almost every boat imaginable, and every tower moves and rattles a little bit. In fact, the most solid tower I can think of is on a friends x-star. Just chill about unnecessary boat bashing, no one here appreciates it.

I think the NVS speakers are not helping plus it's the tallest tower on the market.

I took my NVS off today b/c I have not tighten the 4 bolts all year and was towing my boat an hour, the tower shook less then ever even on d-ups.

Danny, you can't frieking count. Other that your lousy photoshop post, which is sooo old, I see one other post that has mild MC bashing. Are you 12 or something? Just curious.

The troll post was a good one

We have 4 clarion speakers on our tower, and a set of racks. So, is that what the tower is shaking so much?
Thankx for all the advice

P.S Danny, that picture is cool...if your a 10 year old girl.

Chq, I have an 04 X2 with the same tower, same speakers and somewhat same boardracks. My tower was shaking when someone would cut out hard and I just went through and tightened everything, including the allen wrench bolts and it's solid now, no noise.

As for Danny, I just find it funny how many times he's posted that picture. I believe he's been screwed by an unscrupulous MC dealer in the past and he's taking it out on MC as a result. It's a shame because I got royally screwed by a dealer, who ended up going out of business, then ignored by the manufacturer as well, but I'm not bashing them every time someone comes on here asking questions about them.
Old     (boomerang)      Join Date: Feb 2006       06-14-2006, 2:30 PM Reply
The problem that I had with the dealer was just the start of it, after I contacted MC and explained what the dealer had done, they could care less. Why should I promote their product?

Any how we all love our boats, and this is just a website, get over it.

And by the way I have 4 tower speakers, and swing away board racks, no rattles at all.

take your own advice and "get over it" just as I have... bashing other people's boats does nothing but spark anger, especially when you're offering nothing to help. Nuff said and I'm done with it.

Sweet boat. Maybe once upon a time the photoshop was funny, but never once since Danny has taken liberty over it. MC's kick ass.

my 06 xstar tower makes a little bit of noise on the starboard side when the racks are full..i only have 2 speakers up there, but i have the cargo bimini which could weigh a lot!

Man,
thats to bad what is your dealer telling you to do?
Old    toolman            06-22-2006, 4:02 AM Reply
I bet the Mastercraft dealer is trying to blame it on the tower speakers.

David,
Why would you say that, after what was spent on these boats,
I know the dealer will step up and fix the bad towers.

when you guys say that your tower shake, how much is too much, because we just made install a roswell tower on our MC prostar190. It's not moving front to back, but can move almost 3 inches from side to side. The dealer say it's normal and I know that universal tower are known to shake and make some noise, but is that to much? thanks
* sorry for the bad english, not my mother language
