It should actually be pretty cool. You can stay up all night and gamble if you like. Not me. The shows are right next to the water and the wake contest. Metal Melisha MotoX jumping, RampRats BMX demos(me), Servin up Street Bike show. Plus a bunch of vendors and boats. The Casino is pretty nice and well taken care and they are cleaning up alot of the weeds in that area and trying to make it beach friendly. www.Boardstock.com

Saw the location and it should be a great event.
There is a cove and a beach in front of the casino/resort that is going to make great viewing for the spectators. Who's going?

So ya, sounds good. But clear lake even looks green and goopy on google. What's the best way to do the weekend, bring your boat and tie it up on the line during the day, or sitting on the grass? Stay at the site hotel, or somewhere else? Come with boat or without?? Thanks for the info.

I understand that there will only be one bar open. So long lines. Better to tie up on the lake.

Who all is planning on going up?

We have always had a good time at the Clear Lake location and hope this year will be no different.

I still have to figure out where we are going to put our boat. Labor Day weekend the water was so low the boat ramp we launch from was high and dry. Trailer sank so in the mud at the end of the ramp the swim platform had mud squeezing up between the slats. Nothing a little 4lo and diesel power couldn't handle.

Interesting, no night events this year. It clearly states- 5:30 PM Gate Closed - Security Lockdown

boardstock is great i hear, but konocti is a huge rip off. they have 4 night minimums for rooms/rv slips and boat slips. let alone they bump the room rates from 85 bucks to 200 a nite. and they are charging 50 bucks a night for the boat slips. This place is a rip off!!!!

Does anyone know how to go there and spend less than a $1000 dollars

Just want to respond to a couple of questions about BoardStock.

First, there are several other hotels in the area that offer cheaper rooms such as the Super 8, it's about 20 minutes away from the event site, but the rate we hear is $139 and no minimum nights required.

The grounds and the water course are looking
great!

As for the Pro Riders we have:

Phillip Soven
Andrew Adkison
JD WEBB
Rusty Malinoski
Daniel Watkins
Randall Harris
Ricky Gonzales
Brett Eisenhauer, just to name a few!

There are still 7 spaces open in the Friday challenge, over half of those will advance to Saturday, so come early and sign up on site if you want to compete with the Pro's.

Well the lake is low & the hydrilla is in full bloom. Whats hydrilla? Oh you'll see it & smell it when you get there. There's guys out there on pontoons trying to at least clear a lane for the comp. Should be fun though.

Just in case anyone is confused, Boardstock is at Konocti CASINO, not where it was last year, Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa.

i know you guys are all boarders , but the slalom comp should be great too. these guys are used to skiing private sites with glass water. definately will be a challenge.

This is the last event for World Series of Wakeboarding, this is not a King of Wake event. That's the Tige' Pro Am in Mexco.

can you launch your boat during the mid-day while the comp is going on? I remember something last year about having to launch early morning (7am) or so. Or does someone know where you can launch near by and just boat over to the comp? I might take a day trip on Saturday.

If you want to compete in BoardStock XII, just come to the VIP / Registration area located at the end of the point and sign up before 11:00 am on Friday 9/28.

BoardStock will be the last event in the World Wakeboarding Association (WWA) series.

There are other places to launch your boat that are a 5 min boat ride from the event. I'm sure it'll be a real PIA to launch at the Casino. On the casino website it says boat launch closed to the public 29th & 30th. Don't forget Konocti Harbor Resort is about a 20 min boat or car ride, I'm sure thats where the party will be afterward. Outdoor concert, Heaven & Hell, Alice Cooper & Queensryche. Clearlake is my "home" lake so if you have any questions or want more info, e-mail me. beast95451@yahoo.com

Waylon- I believe the ramp at the Casino will be closed.

There is a ramp in Lakeport you can use, or there is one at the State Campground. Look them up on lake maps.

they didnt annouce who won but it was sick. the water was butta all day and everyone killed it. imo jd and ricky gonazales 1st heat. 2nd heat adikison and watkins the last heat was crazy it had soven ,eiesnhower, mike schweene (sp) brady sammons, adam errington and cory bradley. i think there was only one fall in this heat. 4 riders advanced imo soven, mike schweene (sp), eiesenhower and bradley. the was some huge clean tricks. And as advertised soven was cocky as hell.

And Big props to local delta rider brandon george throwing it down with the big boys. He went big and clean. He just barely missed hitting the Big Worm at the end of his run.
He and Brady Sammons held it down for the nor cal riders. Brady went big with mobe after mobe( i dont know the variation names) and threw a huge 720.

Its great to hear that Mike Schwenne is competing again. I went to his camp last summer. He's a great guy and has some serious West Coast Style. What was the scene like at the event. It was so weird last year that we decided not to go, but now that I'm reading about it I wish I had.

ya the fact that it was this late in the season played a big role. also i dont think the event planner worked well with the reps from the location. the event was dry and didnt have much of attraction to it besides the riding. hell yagermeister had a tent but left because they couldnt give promo drinks. it should be held way earlier in the sept or even late august.

Most of the local community boycoted this event. There was a murder of a well known taxi driver on the reservation and apparently the tribe members are not working with the authorities. The sheriffs dept and local media are claiming a major cover-up.

ya i can believe it! thats place was ghetto and hell i grew up near oakland! all of the workers were tribal members and they were all thuged out and looking for trouble. when they had giveaways from vendors i saw them knock people over to get to the free stuff. while on duty. they place was ripping people off left and right, read my post above about the prices they were charging for rooms, boats slips and parking!!!

By the way- Almost all of the Pro events are WWA including the Pro Am which is the last "King of Wake". Their are 10 King of Wake events which are all sanctioned by the WWA. 5 of those events are the Pro Wakeboard Tour. So you have two series going on within each other. One earns points for both the PWT series and the King of Wake Series at the PWT stops. Boardstock is not part of any of these and thus you don't have all the pros coming out. Now Wakestock is a PWT and King of Wake event but Boardstock Ontario isn't nor is this one. Also the USAWakeboard Nationals and the IWSA worlds are not part of any of them. Confused yet.

Bottom line is the 10 King of Wake events are the main wakeboard events that draw the pros from all over. All the rest are "second tier". Not bad, just not first tier.

aside from the low turn out , i thought that it was well organized. they did a great job keeping things going . however it was a big mistake to not allow alcohol and charge to get in. kept most people out on the water.

yes the surrounding area was " ghetto " but its an indian res. they aren't exaclty the nicest places.

i think with a little work that place will be great for future events. you have all the amenties , hotel, launch, docks , store, casino and lots of parking. they just need to get less greedy and not over charge people .
Old     (deltaridah)      Join Date: Aug 2007       10-01-2007, 3:38 PM Reply
ya i agree rod. The indian res makes for a huge issue. I think they would do better off a reservation. it just had a shady feel all day, especially when you got out of the gates.
Old     (romes)      Join Date: Sep 2006       10-01-2007, 3:48 PM Reply
thats why we never left the gates...that story ab the duct tape, cab driver, and a murder was the first thing i heard ab when i got in on friday nite...kinda nuts...but fun non-the-less
Old     (deltaridah)      Join Date: Aug 2007       10-01-2007, 3:56 PM Reply
no i meant the event gates to go to the hotel and your cars and stuff. the locals definitley had a chip on thier shoulder. i had a blast dont get me wrong but nothing like the stories i have heard about past events. what did everyone do after the event, just walk around that little casino there didnt look to be a gathering place.

Soven won. 9k for first place. The best riding conditions in years. No alcohol at all allowed on the grounds during the event. I'm betting it won't be there again next year. Rob had to of lost money this time. Everyone got toasted Saturday nite, the announcer was missing trick names all over the place, lol. They had thirty seconds of silence in honor of the young Canyon Lake rippers who lost their lifes this year, and unfortunetly, a twenty something year old Windsor man lost his life after supposedly drinking quite a bit and falling overboard and drowning. It happened a few miles away from the event.
Old     (wkbddad)      Join Date: May 2005       10-01-2007, 5:53 PM Reply
Maybe this helps clarify the different series going on. There is the PWT series which involves the 5 Pro Tour stops (Acworth, Ft Worth, Minn, Portland, Kelowna). There is the WWA World Series of Wakeboarding which involves 5 stops (Gravity Games from 2006, Wakestock, J-Round, WWA Worlds, and Boardstock) Lastly there is King of Wake which involves 5 PWT events plus Wake games, Nationals, Worlds, and Tige' Pro-am. Masters isn't part of any series. All are WWA events. Only events not WWA are the IWSF events including Singapore and Qatar and they usually have their own series (the World Cup series) but this year since there's only 2 events there is no overall title.
results of Boardstock: Phillip 1st, JD 2nd, and Ike 3rd.

First off, I had a great time. But, overall the event organization wasn't great. Years past it was $20 to tie to the line. This year they wanted $10 per boat, and $20 per person in the boat. The crew we tied up with paid the $10 then 2 hours later they came to collect the $20 each. Different staff were telling people different things. They guy would collect from one boat and not try to get anything from the boat next to them. Pissed a lot of people off so people just started refusing.

Saturday right away, Kevin Mcginnity(sp?) from here spotted me so we tied up with his Sac crew. Good guys hella fun all day. Party was 2 deep where we were at and maybe 20 boats one side, and 40 boats the other side. Took off when one of the chicks on my boat got F-d hammered up after getting a drink from someone else. Went from sober to falling down wasted and shaking in about 10 minutes. She was fine when we got back to the house and the chicks took care of her.

Sunday tied up with Greg from Tidal Audio and his crew of boats. Partied with them all day and took off about 4pm. Oh yeah, not one person came to collect any money from anyone all day Sunday.

About the Indian Reservation, the staff guy told me they were told to walk in groups of people (not 2, more) to be safe after dark. Cozy place eh?

The conditions were perfect, but what more can you ask for basically October weather. If it wasn't for Boardstock there would just have been 10 fisherman on the lake. Bring it back to August!!

no john your completly wrong! the wakeboarding was awesome. It was a family event for all ages ashore. the great the great thing was people could choose there scene.Party or festival with booths and bike stunts. The crowd was great all of the riders from nor cal got a chance to meet up with some big name pros from around the states. Your article was very one sided, i wonder
why you have choosen to post on this site. Were on here for the riding and lifestyle.

soli, i think you're missing the point...look at scott's picture above...likewise, the video is totally tongue in cheek and facetious, revealing that the partyboat "fans" didn't care at all about wakeboarding...just an observation...
Old     (rodltg2)      Join Date: Oct 2005       10-01-2007, 9:48 PM Reply
i somewhat agree, most people were just out there for the party. its too bad , no one cared to view the slalom skiing as well. i realize its a hard sport to understand if you dont do it, and slalom skiing now days is limited to private sites.

i didnt see the surrounding neighborhood as dangerous, just kind of dumpy. they would have been really stupid to cause anything from having that event there again. probably the biggest thing thats happend on that res since the casino was built.

if you looked out on the dock, there was probably $1mil plus in boats out there. i didnt here form anyone that stuff was vandlaized or stolen. anyone one know if anthitnhg happened.??

Luke, good meeting you Saturday. My friend, Kevin Mcguirk, spotted you and you tied up to my white x2. Sorry to hear about one of your friends getting too wasted. It sounds like there was more than just alcohol in her drink.

Boardstock needs more events for the night. We never could find anything going on Fri night. The Welcome "Party" was over when we got to the casino at 11. I'm glad we didn't pay the 15 cover.

It was great during the day Sat. Way crazier then we expected after it being dead on Fri night. Lots of good wakeboarding, mx, and skydiving to watch plus all the crazy partying. One of the funniest things that I saw was a girl that was mad at her boyfriend. He was standing next to her while she danced and flashed every guy in sight! It was hillarious.

I'm glad my crew refused to pay the 20 a person. We paid the 10 to tie up to the line and they didn't even mention having to pay per person, too. Then some different guys came by saying we had to pay 20 each. We refused and they said that the cost guard would kick us off the lake. We decided to take our chances and they never came back. I saw 5 different boats in a row refuse to pay after us. Later in the day we saw one of the guys who tried to make us pay partying! He pretty much said they tried to get as much money as they could then just gave up. They should have been collecting the 20 per person when selling the tie up fee. Also, the website only stated the $10 tie up fee on the water and made it sound like it was 20/person on land. Pretty dis-organized.

Overall a great time! I just wish it was earlier in the year. I suspect that it may be at a different lake next year. We will see.

Bryan! Great meeting you guys! Sunday was a way better day for watching the boarding. It seemed like there was more going on Sunday, then Saturday. I did see a lot more chi chi flashing on Sunday though... So I guess I didn't miss all of the riding.

We have some great pics from Sunday on another camera. Here are the ones I got so far.

We go to this event to check out some guys throw some tricks far bigger than I ever will and party and meet some other cool people. It was worth it, I just wish it had been warmer, every time there was a breeze the chicks ran for their sweatshirts!

My crew and I had a great time! We stayed on the water and never made it on land. I did not like the fact that 2 guys came up 2 us trying to charge $20 a person on my boat when we had 10 people. That was a joke. We just moved 25 feet forward and anchored there. We are 100% going next year, just wish they would put it back in August. Sunday morning was awesome. We rode for about an hour and found glass in the middle of the lake.
Thanks to Margret for getting things together so last minute.
Big props to BG for qualifing in wakeboarding.

Please someone contact Ron and have the event name changed. This is NOT boardstock. The move to the delta killed the event, and its getting worse every year.

Ive been going to boardstock since 99' and this besides being small was a pretty good event. holding it in sept is what killed it and that was because they couldn't get it rolling fast enough after there last venue dropped it. diss it all you want I had a blast!! even won my money back at the casino.
as far as the people on the boats not paying attention to the riders thats not really true. that was the loudest chearing ive ever heard. everytime I didn't wreck they let me know it, it was great. I don't know of any other contest around where the riders get that attention. its usually a bunch of tools impressing chicks with there sterios cuz they can't ride. :-) anyways just be greatful theres something like this at all in norcal, hell its hard enough to get even a small event like the DRA to work let alone boardstock.

Blake- the reason why Boardstock still "works" is because it's gone corporate. Have you noticed how many times it's changed locations over the past few years?

As Murray eluded to in the most recent Standerd, Boardstock isn't "BOARDSTOCK." Fortunately, we've got the CIE Spring Ride every spring to get excited about...

scott why are you so sour on boardstock??? It is a great event, could have been run better, but definitely the best chance to see the big boys ride here in cali. The Cie spring ride has all cali riders i love them but i want to see people from all over ride. I
It was funny i didnt see anything from cwb or cie there. why is that?

Id like to know why with so much talent and so much apparent people posting about wakeboarding from cali here in this forum there are not more events put on out here besides CIE, and boardstock? seems like we could have some of the pro tour stops in nor cal with the amount of people into boating around here? I dont understand it? and even at the events ive been to on the delta for the amount of wakeboarders out n about seems like ive seen more people at say the memorial day party at union point than at a santioned wakeboard event? what gives?

IS WAKEBOARDING DYING OUT IN NOR CAL?
