Any SoCal Tourneys, besides the ones in SD?

I was thinking of maybe competing (that's if I can learn to ride again ) and/or help out with judging.

Joe, your post contained the key word "help". You are to be automatically routed, upon arrival to any stated event, to the registration desk, starting dock, announcer's table, or judge's seat, until you become a permanent fixture within the organizing bodies of said events, for a limit only terminable upon death (at least that's what my contract says)

Seriously, we'll be getting the 2004 CLWC schedule out in the next few weeks, and can use all the help we can get!

I just checked out the wakeboardclub.com tourney format. Cool, there's a Master's division. Is there a big turnout for that division?

Yeah, I'm willing to help. Chicks dig dudes that work tourneys, don't they?

I thought guys dug chicks who worked tourneys? I will check out the CLWC schedule too, I'd like to volunteer also if it doesn't conflict with work.

Masters div? Yeah, well there's always a few of us out there. Our first comp last year, we had 3, toward the middle of the season, we had like 7 or 8. All really cool guys.

Right on Lynsey! We need more lady riders!

Cheers!

Sweet!!! I can't wait!

How's the Masters division judged? Is there a minimum, or limit or tricks/inverts?
Old     (socalwakepunk)      Join Date: Dec 2002       01-28-2004, 8:36 AM Reply
Cool, Jonathan! I would be dissapointed not to see you or Nathan out there! We should hook up for some backwater in the next couple of weeks.

No minimum requirements. Judging is 1/3 execution, 1/3 composition, and 1/3 intensity. 2 falls and you're done. If you happen to make it through before your 2nd fall, you get the bonus plan (big fat double up in front of the pavillion).

Yeah, Master's rock!

Thanks Jeff.

What's competition like in that division? I mean, what are the Masters stickin'?
Old     (socalwakepunk)      Join Date: Dec 2002       01-28-2004, 8:49 AM Reply
Well, there's me, and I'm pretty lucky if I don't fall out of my chair/off the dock. !

We've got a few that are going w2w, getting grabs on and 180s, and then we've got a few nailing krypts/hoochies, fronts, and 5s (Aaron). In between, backrolls, 3s, backside 180s, tantrums, crows, etc. It's all good!

Holy guess I'll be in the beginner's division!
Old     (rock_n_boardin)      Join Date: May 2003       01-28-2004, 9:56 AM Reply
Nah Joe,

you need to join the Masters. It's all fun, I fall into that first class of rider Jeff mentioned. But hey the guys throwing the big tricks can fall. If that happens and you have a nice clean pass. Your golden.

Though it's never happened to me LOL plus usually the Master is held right after the open division, so the boat is at max weight!

Umm....How soon you all forget...all you masters sure are lucky that Fred Escalera has moved to Veterns this year. So its looking like its going to be the year of Davis (Aaron that is), at least in the Masters Division.

Hey Jeff hows my new boat treating you? I am going to have to take it back soon....lol.

Dang it sounds like you have a killer masters division down there. I will haft to come down and check it out. Last time I rode INT they made me ride in the outlaws and man the young guns were killing it.
Old     (socalwakepunk)      Join Date: Dec 2002       01-29-2004, 9:39 PM Reply
Shhhh, Shawn! Don't let Fred hear this. He'll find a way to get a refund on his birthday, then we'll all be in trouble, again! . He's 40 now, the Vets (or Outlaws) have to deal with him now! So, when can you come out and play? You are always welcome to ride with us, you know that!!

Shawn - I ride the Delta in a 3/2 wetsuit every weekend... It really isn't that bad at all. Just bring a jacket to wear when you get out of the boat that you don't mind getting wet, some gloves and a beanie... Not bad at all.

Uh, I rode the Delta for 5 winters.

3/2 wetsuit? HAHAHA! Drysuit baby!!

yea, well... the 100 degree rules for CA are nothing compared to growing up in Alaska, so yea...3/2 wetsuit works just dandy for me!!

So, are prizes given away at the tourneys?
Old     (wakestar8878)      Join Date: Oct 2003       02-03-2004, 10:23 AM Reply
Yeah Joe usally some decent swag is given away to the first three places of each class, and First Place always get a trophy. Each tournament counts as points and adds up till the last tourney. Then we have a awards banquet every year, (last seasons was at the Blue Water Casino in Parker, AZ.) and the rider that gets the most points for each class, recieves a trophy for the seris.
