everytime i try batwings, the board always ends up parallel to the water and behind me, rather than perpendicular to the water. however, riding w/ jesson and gretchen vedel a couple weeks ago, they said i did a legit one. :-)

I can't get the board back under me. I get stuck out there for some reason.

Are letting your arm out straight?

The biggest thing that helped me land them was getting wayyyy over the handle and curling it under my lead arm. That way when I took off I could control how far the board went behind me by how far i let my arm out. Also, 80% of weight on the front foot all the way up the wake makes grabbing it way easier. When I tried it with even wieght placement, the board would whip way out behind me and I'd never get the grab, or get the board back under. An early grab is key to keeping it collected and bringing it down

I think I am letting my arm out or something. I have smashed myself a few hundred times doing these. It's hard to tell because no one can seem to capture it on film. I want to get it dialed SOON!

I have done em but more of a drifted OA type thing than a full on perpendicular to the water angle. Even then I am fairly confident my form is whacked since it puts a grip of strain on my lead bicept.

I tried them all summer long last summer and never was able to stick it. I was either missing the grab, or when I could get the grab, I couldn't get full extension and I never was able to bring the board back under me in time before landing. Help Andy!!!

i started to drift out some indy grabs, but never could call it a batwing. now i'm on my 4th different board after 5 sets...once i get this new one dialed in, i'm going to start getting back after the batwing. got 1.5 months left to get em!

I got really motivated from the first thread to go out and try some batwings stomped it like the seventh or eighth try. The short cut and stomping my front foot off the wake were key for me thanks for all the good thread everybody I will post some pics up soon

I tried a Batwing, but my board got stuck in my utility belt, and it is really hard to ride with a mask on... don't know how Batman does it.
