Spencer, interesting. Never heard of anyone that didn't like the hinge. In fact, it's the reason I ride CWBs. Some kid jammed his ace on the hinge, so they flip down now. just curious.

I had a pair of answers and literally could not ride them. The hinge dug into my achilles and I was left limping after every set (I rode them a few sets just to be sure...switching them out with regular binders).

i love the hinge, only way i can get my size 15s in there so easily.

M-Dizzle, you know you can adjust the forward lean that the Hinge creates right? If they are pushing on your achilles, then you need to loosen up the tension on the cable.

I thought I hated the hinge because I was always trying out too big of a size. I have size 10.5 feet so I always tried size large and hated them. The hinge would still hold my foot down but the rest of the binding didn't feel right. The first time I tried the medium I instantly loved the hinge bindings, I tried going back to my Ronix kais once after but it made me realize how much heel lift I had in them and they just didn't drain well (so comfy though)

Seems like the hinge is a bit of a selling point for beginners. I just don't understand why you need a metal hinge and cables to wakeboard. Most wakeboard boots are over built as is, so why complicate things further? Just slide right in; my wife doesn't have a hinge.

Tony, I don't want to see how you use your boots.

Trying to put the Zues bindings on without the hinge and a ton of Newt Juice was almost impossible. The hinge has done wonders to the CWB line-up.

I figured it saved me about $50 in slime each year.

Yup, I adjusted the tension several times Heavy. For some reason they always dug into my Achilles and I could never figure out why. I talked to a few other folks with similar complaints.

I agree Tony. The only thing I could see as a benefit is if they can get a tighter heal cup and a generally tighter fit (without the cramps obviously).

Jeremy, i think they stitched the handles up so they dont get the sagging and slipping in the grip like the normal LGs get.

im also not a fan of the hinge because of the same reason M-Dizzle stated. I've found a lot of people that cant stand the way they feel, but then others love them. I think in 2006 the hinge was great because everything was hard to put on, but now all current bindings can be put on dry with no problems. The hinge isnt needed any longer.

I cant wait to see the 2010 CWB line up though. i heard there will be big changes.

Why cut a boot in half and use a hinge to put them back together? Are they easy to get in and out of? Have you put your foot in any binding ]from 2007 to this year?

I like my boots to wrap around my foot and hold me down with no pain.

I have ridden a hinge boot every year since they came out and they never really felt totally comfortable to me. I know a lot of people that wouldn't ride anything else so there is a market for them.

C-dub has a pic of the 2010 Marius (new closed toe binding) not the board, no hinge and it comes in at 1lb 13oz, looks really sick, check it out!!

I love my hinge. Every other binding feels loose to me without the hinge.

Everyone I ride with has hinge bindings now. I bet over the course of a day we save 15-20 minutes just changing riders since it literally takes like 30 seconds to put the board on.

Ehh, to each their own. Just ordered another pair of hinge-tech greatness. Faction this time. Be here today or tomorrow. Can't wait.

I better if it had purple-helmet kidneys and the softest bone-bed in the bidness, you'd need a hinge to get in it! No lube son, turn it over and knock it out the frame!

My lousy opinion only: hinge is redundant (or not necessary). This is b/c the whole feature is meant for easy entry and exit while maintaining support. BUT, almost every other boot in the industry does this without using a similar feature. Are LF/SS/HYP/GB/RONIX/ETC. boots so difficult to get into and out of that a hinge feature is justified? I tend to think no. So, it seems like a feature that is not only useless but potentially detrimental (e.g. hinge boots tend to be very stiff at the back and the hinge can pop open unintentionally). Bottom line: I dont see any clear advantage of using it. Maybe someone can enlighten me....

Its not just about easy in and out, its about heel lift, you get no heel lift in Hinge boots.

If you put on a pair of Zeus's, then you will see it is not about entry and exit WRT the high end hinge boots, its about how nice the tension from the hinge keeps your heel locked down.

Johan, for beginners learning the sport the Hinge is awesome. They can get in and out of the board while in the water with ease. It really is great for folks that don't have a swim step, just dive in and put your boot on.

For the advanced riders, the Hinge eliminates heel lift. Instead of sliding down into the heel pocket you are able to push the heel piece forward and lock down your heel. If you size em right they are one of the most secure boots you can find.

Try em and see if they work for you, as you can see, there are a lot of folks that swear by em.

i swear by em! and cant wait to sliide my foot right in to those 210's and hopefuly lock my heel down with the hinge-tech that im hoping will still be there...we got a pair of the 2010 prototypes at the shop about a month ago...and i will say that there was a peice of metal still on he back of the boot...dont know if they stuck with it or changed it up...we shall see!

I wear a size 13. Before hinge boots, I had never found a binding that I could get in/out of, that fit my foot. Everything that "fit" took 15 minutes and several ounces of soap/lube to put on. Now I've got a slippery but cramping foot shoved into a binding. That's fun for about 3 minutes. Then, its time to take them off... give me another 10 minutes, my foot is asleep but stuck in the binding and hurts like a mofo. No thanks.

Oh yea, I've NEVER had a hinge pop open...

If it did, a small cable adjustment would fix it. Try to adjust the stance and feel of any other binding out there.

I think Johan was talking about the 2007 Factions and CWB brought out a fix for that problem.

I like the hinge for the heel hold. Never had my heel move the slightest bit. Tried out my buddy's Watsons and they just felt sort of sloppy

All of our high-end bindings got a top-to-bottom overhaul for 2010 w/ two new models. Under 2lb., new ergo plate/footbed, and new unnamed heel-hold system.

I've been rockin a 2010 model prototype hinge binding for the past couple of months. Let's just say it is the best fitting, most comfortable binding I have ever worn. I am hell on bindings, very picky, have a narrow foot with a high arch---these bindings are awesome! You don't have to listen to anyone online--including me--just go check out the 2010 CWB binding line up for yourself.

My guess is some sort of heel hold 'locking' device that doesn't require the entire boot to be cut in half. Excited to see whats up...

Size 15 here and before the hinge I had the same problems as those above, foot fell asleep, ridiculous amounts of lube to get the foot in and out, etc. I've never had the hinge pop open on mine and I don't have any problems with it digging into my heel either - love the hinge!

so they're a lighter version of vantages, but w/ hinges?

Is that like a 4 inch plate?!?! That thing looks a lot more narrow than the current plate.

Negative - the new boot pictured and the Vantage do both use Velcro but other than that, they are entirely different. The plate is still 6 inch.

Whats with that screw right next to the toe of the boot on grassmans teaser pic...it looks like 2 screws (on left side of the picture) where the original molded fins 'should' be!????
