Tops out at 80 .... the donzi we have now does 55 and thats fn fast. I cant imagine 80, and it shoots a huuuge rooster tail cause of the surface drive. I cant wait to get a ride in this, that 502 is gonna roarr, our current donzi has a 350 and its loud as hell too.

Thats a cool ride. I like the design of the window. Do you have anymore pick's of the boat from the front. Congrat's on your new toy.

Those trim tabs seem big. Seems like something along those lines could be used on the right wake hull and serve to help produce wakesurfing waves.

Yeah they are massive, i think 28 inches not 100% sure. The reason they are so big is because the surface drive doesnt have as much control over the bow as a regular i/0 would so the long tabs make up for it. Its supposably a whole new thing, you have to really get the hang of using tabs like all the time rather than your drive.

Hey How is it getting and out of that boat when you wanna get in the water to go for a swim do you stand on top of the out drive to get back in? Question you called the out drive a surface drive? Im no off shore boat expert so thats why Im asking but to me that looks like a traditional out drive. I thought surface drives were like what you see Arneson's Jet powerd offshore?

Twitch, that thing is beautiful... I've always been a fan of the Donzi Classics. I spent a lot of my childhood cruising across the lake in the 16' blue Donzi "Zipp-ity", which still is on Lake WA somewhere...

Did I see that on Lake WA this weekend? A yellow Classic (it looked smaller than 22'...more like 18') pulled into Juanita Bay that looked similar.

that is definitely some sort of bravo series "outdrive".. that duoprop setup looks like it means business.. grant is right, surface drives are a completely different animal but just as dank for their application.. how many toys does your dad have Twitch? i hope my girls aren't reading all your posts about your family's money.. you are going to cost me and the wife some savings..

Grant a surface drive (i believe its called) is like an i/o drive but the center of the prop is at the bottom of the hull. Out of the 3 blades, the only one that does the work is the one pointing down in the water, when the blade comes up around the top all it does is create drag. So here the blade goes in the water, under the hull, out of the water and through air above the hull. does that make sense? its easier to push a blade through air then water.

Cal I think ive seen that sweet 16, not sure. But no this one is in new Hampshire at the moment waiting to be shipped, you may have seen our white and navy blue almost black 73 X-18, its been on lake wa for a long time now.

Grant that Bravo drive is the competition to the blackhawk drive, same idea different companies different advantages to both, blackhawk is better from what i hear on the offshore forums.

Is that why the boat is called Blackhawk. Because of the outdrives?
Old     (themxercr85)      Join Date: Jul 2007       06-16-2008, 11:27 PM Reply
Yeah because its a blackhawk outdrive i think, Im not 100% sure on all of this, if someone knows better then me correct me if Im wrong, but im pretty sure its called a blackhawk cause the blackhawk drive.

Oh and grant to answer you question about swimming, this one will be a little harder to swim on because the drive doesnt really have steps to it, out other down has a normal drive on it and we just use the drive to get in and out.
