I'm doing a project at school and need to get some ballpark idea of how much it costs, with respect to gas, to run a wakeboard boat with weight in it for a day.. assume a 6 hour day..

thanks

That'd probably be about 20-22 gal. of fuel for me w/ around 1,000 lbs ballast and ~ 4 people (and probably 1/2 to an hour for lunch break). You can add in the cost per gallon. I run 87 octane and have paid from $1.60 up to $2.80 at a marina.

Looking at boat hours, my vlx with 4 people and 1000 lbs uses about 5 gallons/hour. Six hours is a lot of riding. A usual saturday on the lake is more like 4 hours of engine time, being on the water from 8-4 or so.

A full day at the delta, riding constantly except for lunch time, I use about 25 to 30 gallons. I usually run about 1400 lbs of ballast with 4 to 6 people in the boat. I usually put premium in my boat and gas in San Jose this past summer was at least $2.00 to $2.30 per gallon. My truck also takes about 14 gallons of fuel to run back and forth to the delta just in case you want to factor that in as well. I only run regular in my truck.

Every day we go out on my BU-VLX, we blow through 35 gallons and hobble home on fumes with 2 gallons on the boat in reserve.

4 people x 3 sets; boat sacked with 2000 lbs.

With 1500 pounds in a super air nautique and usually 3 poeple we use about five gallons in an hour.

i'd agree with the 5 GPH estimate. i have a SAN and we burned a little more than 30 gallons yesterday with stock ballast plus another 1000 and three people + rider.
