I think this is like the 3rd year reading about this, in one day driving from Portland to grants pass or I seen 3 boats going down I-5 with wakeboards flopping in there racks, I seen one fly out some years back, just can’t believe that I haven’t heard of anything since then…
I was driving next to this guy at 70, watching his board flippity flop in the wind

Yep see it all the time. They were doing about 75-80 mph the whole time. I was waiting to pick up a new board.

That Malibus funny. The guy looks like he went to the trouble of removing the spotter mirror but not the boards. How long does it take to pull some boards off?

I just sold a sky ski to a guy that said it flew out of his boat while going down the highway. I am going to say that a wakeboard on a rack would be even easier to loose. I have often wondered if you could spin a rotating board rack to the inside of the boat if that would hold. My boat is so wide and tall that I have to remove the racks to drive down the road or I will clip trees. Luckily I bought the quick disconnect racks.

before we had a boat, or wakeboarded. i used to think it was so cool seeing boards in racks, after i started riding, i realized it was stupid and laugh when the blow by you on the freeway

I would never tow with wakeboards in the racks.

Why would you do 80 towing????

I tow with our boards in the racks from the marina to the storage building. It's about a mile and I don't go faster that I would run on the lake. That is somewhere between 30 and 35. But past that I'm afraid of one flying off and hitting someone. I would hate to be towing the boat that it flew off of and went threw a windshield and hurt someone. Just my .02.

I think if my racks will hold a board in going 26 mph through the double up, it will keep my board in while doing 40 down the highway. I do swivel my racks to the inside of the boat.

i dont doubt it, i think its pretty bad when you see people doing 70 mph+. we have done 35 in 2 foot swells out on the lake with our racks full, no problems

i tow my boat really far and fast with boards in the racks, no transom tie downs, no lights connected, no safety cables connected and loaded with lead

you just gotta live on the edge sometimes, lol!!!!

Rich, the mirror is on the windsheild on the Malibu.

I usually chuck my boards in the boat until we get to the launch, but then it's only a 5 min tow at 30 mph max.

Seems like a stupid idea to tow with anything in the racks or the boat if it's uncovered at higher speeds.

We do it at speeds under about 20 mph from the ramp to the house, which is about 3 blocks. SkySkis, boards & the bimini up. When I pull to the gas station & get up to about 35 mph, I pull the foils & boards down. No sense in giving Johnny Law a chance to hassle me.

Funny story.... we're at Shasta, on a houseboat. Decide to meet some friends at a bar by the Shasta RV Resort. So we get cleaned up, pile into the LSV & go to a dock that appears to be close to the Resort. We tie the boat up & walk to the shore. Only to find the gangway is gone. No way to get from the dock to the shore, which is like 20' or 25'. And we're all cleaned up & dry, no chance we're jumping across. So we pile back into the LSV & head over to the ramp. Dave goes to get the truck, stabs it down the ramp, we drive on the trailer & Dave hooks up, jumps in the truck & takes off...... all the way to the bar. We realize WTH he's up to & just laugh & break out the jello shots. Figure if we're going to get busted, we'll go in with a buzz. A few blocks later, we stop at the bar & go in & have dinner. The looks on peoples faces in the parking lot as 11 or 12 of us pile out of the boat is priceless.

I tow with my boards in the racks, but I swivel the racks in the boat just incase. Plus I don't get to speeds over 40mph.

Bill that dock at lakeshore has been gone for years. Too bad really. But the lakeshore Inn and RV is a great bar! They have live music Friday and Saturday, and let me tell you it is a show!!!!

Nect time just go into the cove right there and tie up to the campground dock and walk across the bridge.
