Power Wedge question

Does or can the power wedge actually help in assisting the back of the boat to push up so that it can plane out quicker versus not having any wedge?
It seems like the angle could be adjusted to push up just like it could push down or does it already do this?

I have ridden plenty of LSV's with a power wedge and it doesn't seem to plane out any quicker but people tell me this is the case.

It's a drag device not a planning device, it will only make planning out more difficult when used incorrectly.

The wedge will drag and pull the back end of the boat down into the water, this in effect add more resistance. Even in the full down position this is true.

We had a good discussion about this a month ago. Yes it's possible in theory to create lift with the wedge if it retracts far enough but practically speaking the range of motion required is not available without some modifications.

Depending on the position of the wedge, it can make getting on plane difficult. Fully deployed will allow you to plane faster than say only 80%. Some of the new bu's have the auto wedge feature, the wedge starts fully deployed, then raises to the position you desire after you reach speed. If you ride with the wedge less than fully deployed, it can keep you from getting on plane all together depending on your setup

Have a 2012. With it loaded up it won't plane with the wedge unless you weight the front or have a serious prop

Okay so it seems that Darren is the only one who actually understood or at least tried to address the question I wanted answered.
Darren did you mean a modification like the wedge having to be pushed so far underneath the boat that it would hit the gelcoat? Maybe a notch where the wedge could continue to rotate under?

I would think you would need to change the angle of the wedge itself, not just one mor click forward
